Yeah, total wimp. Raw shit is where it's at. Some trivia about Shredded Corpse; despite being a pretty obscure and underground band on Wild Rags Records in the early-mid 90s, the vocalist here went on to be the lead vocalist and guitarist for Christian thrash metal band Living Sacrifice and even playing drums for FUCKING EVANESCENCE from 2002-2007. Actually I'm familiar with 'em, and your right, i dig it. It was reissued on cd a while back but they changed the album art and it's nowhere as cool as the original cassette art imo.

Also missing is the new Druid Lord, one of my favorite releases of the year so far.

Apropos of nothing, I've been wondering if there are any current bands playing the kind of introspective, winding melodic death metal represented by bands like early AtG, Eucharist, Garden of Shadows, A Canorous Quintet, etc, the kind of stuff Phylactery lists in this post basically. This is one of my favorite styles of death metal but it seems to have more or less died out. Are there any (good) modern bands in this vein?

Have you checked out the latest Barren Earth album? It leans heavily towards progressive rock/metal but it does the melodeath thing quite well (when it does do it).

That's the melodeath album recently that I've checked out fully, but there are others I plan to get around to once this year wraps up. These are from my Youtube 'remember to check out' playlist so there's probably more out since then:
