Do/did your parents accept your music taste?

I'm pretty sure my parents don't really care what I listen to. Perhaps they did when I was a lot younger but I'm sure they realize that it's just music.

I would assume that they dislike most of the bands that I listen to. However, like many people, if they ignored their own generalizations of certain bands or genres, they could probably find something that they could enjoy or appreciate.

My folks are fine with it, they even kinda make fun of it, but not in the negative way. I guess that's because of the fact I listen to classical music quite often and got into it before I even knew what metal was, so they're like "okay, you've come a long way. :p " But they're fine. My dad was a 'soft' metal listener in his youth, he liked Ac/Dc and that kind of stuff and he actually doesn't mind my music, as long as the grunts are not 'too bad'.

I just remembered, my mom went to a Dragonforce show with me once. The sound was awful, though, so she didn't really like it, but she didn't mind their music. Also, the openerers (All That Remains, HORSE) were atrocious.

I can only tolerate country music if am with some chick in tight jeans with her tits hanging out because the hottest chicks are the ones that listen to country music and pop music. I can pretend to like it and do actually like pop music(80's stuff).

my parents dont bother me about my music. my friends mostly hate metal. i have 3 friends that like noob metal (opeth, lamb of god shit). i once had sex to a jonas brothers song.

My parents are both Christians (so am I) so they care more than normal parents probably would.

When I first started listening, I told them I only liked the music and didn't like the "screaming," which was partially true but then when I told them I like everything now, they kind of thought that was weird.

My mom doesn't like 99% of it...she found some issues of Metal Maniacs and Decibel and didn't like that it had stuff about Satan and cussing in it but I explained to her that I'm not into the music because I love Satan and explained how important it was to me. Lol.

Anyways, my mom hates most of it and usually tells me to turn it down or looks at me weird or says "How can you like that stuff/devil music?!" etc. She does like some of the Post-Rock stuff and Kaki King though.

My dad loves music but he likes Christian and Jazz mainly. I show him bands but he usually doesn't seem interested and wants to talk instead of listening to the album when we're in the car (I hate when he does that). He doesn't like most of it.

He's liked some bands: Turisas, Ensiferum (a little), Wintersun (a little), Symphony X, Epica (he really liked them live even though I'm not a huge fan), Alcest, Agalloch - The White, Ayreon, Green Carnation, Kaki King, and the post-rock stuff.

He is going to the Kreator show with me tomorrow since "they don't scream."

So you're suggesting that "normal parents" aren't Christian?

I meant they probably care more since they are christian since a lot of the lyrics are bad/anti christian....plus it's hard to explain to them why I like Black Metal

Lol...everyone takes things too seriously.

I know older Kreator has screaming but the majority of their newer stuff is mostly singing (Hordes of Chaos/Enemy of God etc.)

Um...no. Mille screams like 90% of the time.

Well it's not like Bloodbath

It's like a thrash shout basically...you can understand him and it's basically singing to me

Plus Exodus sings and I think he might like Warbringer...I know he won't like Belphegor but I don't care. He can stand in the back.
