I never had my parents say anything bad...I know my mom hates metal..It's just "Screaming to her" but she'll like a power metal/more upbeat song once in awhile...My dad doesn't mind it cuz he likes Classic Rock and Recognizes good Musicians. He likes some Dream Theater, Metallica, anything with a good singer/drummer but Hates Growls and Says it just ruins the music..Thy don't understand...The 60s/70s were a diff Time. Metal wasn't in there blood....We're all whole diff Generation. But I do LOVE classic Rock also....

The one genre that's hard to win people over with is Black Metal...One of My friends likes every other genre except Real Death Metal/Black Metal.

My mom is even cooler cause she has musical tastes like me. Some of her favourite metal bands are Carcass, Cannibal Corpse, Kataklysm and Bloodbath! It's wierd cause she also loves soft rock and pop. But my parents hate all the black metal I listen to, they say it hurts their ears! I'll be listening to some Xasthur, and my mom will come to my room and say 'turn that crap off and put on Altars of Madness!'

I have a friend who wont listen to any death metal besides Morbid Angel because apparently he can "understand what they're saying"

does not make much sense at all, considering Morbid Angel's vocals are about the same as pretty much all old school death metal.

my dad got me into metal, buying me Ride the Lightning for my first CD. It evolved from there. My aunt got me into Danzig, i thank her all the time for it. My moms into the more 80s Metal scene. But ill give her some credit. As for my girlfriend, well, when we first got together she was all about listening to metal, now shes listening to that gay Hiphop "Lil Wayne" BULLSHIT.uke:

Father disproves of metal enthusiasm, thinks it's corruptive, however Mother doesn't have a problem. If I where more obviously immersed in the social kind of metal scene that would encourage them to oppose, but I'm not.
I actually agree that some heavy metal music is rather depressing/ perverted themes going on, as with rap, but I'm aware of that and don't take it on board.
