I enjoy some of their stuff. Like Images and Words, Scenes from a Memory and Train of Thought. I really dont like James Labrie and am not to fond of Portnoy.
They are definitely way overated by the prog geeks.

Dream Theater are one of the most overrated bands ever. Their music is utterly devoid of emotion and good song writing. Their instrumental bits are bad enough, but then they have to add a total cheese singer on top of that. Being a highly trained and skilled instrument player means fuck all if you couldn't write a half decent song to save your life.

The guys are all technically brilliant. But they lack creativity and are very lazy by the fact they love to hold on to their 'progressive' tag. Very boxed in ideas imo.

dream theater was a good band back in the day. they're boring and absurdly unoriginal now.

I think James La Brie is hot. Love to watch him on stage. ..Mmmmmm...... Music wise they were better in the early 90s but Train of Thought is great, too. If you're a fan of Mike Portnoy, check out Transatlantic, with Neal Morse on vocals. Beautiful!
