Unfortunately, I'm incliend to agree. However, it can be lessened, of course. I just don't see why a feminist movement is required.

Haha, well I wouldn't say it's "required", however, we're the only ones really concerned/doing anything about it.

Okay, so, here you seem to mean the female gender as opposed to the male gender, implicating that the male gender doesn't give a rat's ass about violence against women, and (sadly) you're right...for the most part...i'm the exception that proves the rule, i'm the person with a penis that actually cares about women's safety

:tickled: .. Was I right, or was I right??

Much of the problem surrounding women and their feelings of oppression are centered on certain triggers, like imagery, views by the opposite gender, and vocabulary. I have a problem with the feminist movement for the most part because they fail to see that most women foster bad imagery upon themselves. Case in point "girls gone wild". When I was in college I would be in certain classes where girls would bitch, complain, and suffer us into boring tangents about how men treat women like meat. Yet, we have "girls gone wild". And women in porn? I don't hear them complaining. The only respect any woman, or any man for that matter, is going to get is the respect that they demand (I use the term loosely) for themselves. If you don't want to be in porn, fine. But don't denounce the women that choose to do so. They do it out of choice, albeit whatever brought them to that choice (add. or I will hear a rant about that one), but it does not have to be your choice! I, as a woman, respect women who are personally strong but do not project their overly feminist bias against others. Nagging only falls on deaf ears. The best way to be strong as a woman is to stand apart and to have a sense of pride, and total self-respect for yourself. Strength lies within, and if you give respect, you shall receive. If not, then those who do not respect you are people you never have to talk to again.

I know certain people, as I'm sure you all do, who appear to go out of their way to be offended by just about everything.

People who provoke offense are annoying, but: most behaviors affect us all. To someone who is a vegan activist, all people should be vegan. To someone who is a eugenicist, all stupid people must be killed... thus ending the problem discussed in this thread.

Really, think about it - a holocaust of the stupid would solve almost all of humanity's problems.

thank you for being the only female willing to admit that the only women that are in porn are the ones that actually chose to do it... if all females thought that porn was evil then there wouldn't be nearly so many more females in porn than males because there wouldn't be any females doing porn at all... it would all be animated... and untill the number of males in porn becomes anywhere close to being in the same ballpark as the ridiculously huge number of females in porn i'm still gonna cringe a little every single time hearing a female bitch about porn being offensive to the female gender because i know that if you sat down and asked Jenna Jameson and Nina Hartly why they are still doing porn even though the 2 of them have been doing porn longer than anyone else currently doing porn, they would tell you that they're actually having fun when they show up to work...and i can't figure out why the fucking hell that would be so fucking shocking to people

You guys are right .. I mean, women want to be respected for ther minds, though dress like skanks and load themselves up with makeup and perfume and skin creams and get their nails done etc. If this stuff didn't matter to them ..and wasn't so important, why bother?

In the same logic as the "metal music doesn't make people violent" .. "society doesn't make women play with barbie dolls and obsess over physical beauty" .. there is an underlying biological reason for all of this; something the feminists outright deny.

Society reflects the people... stop fighting your nature.

No, metal music does not make people violent. And no, women can choose what they want. But do not think for one second that society does not have a role in "girls playing with barbie dolls" and self-image that women have. I do not agree with feminist bias against men, but at the same time, I am more than well aware of the reason that girls will practically kill themselves to look good. They do it because guys want "hot" chicks. I could go way back in time here and make a large case for why this is so today. It's a shame that women think they have to be 120 lbs and wear skimpy clothes to attract a man's attention but, unfortunately, that's the way society works. I still stand by my previous post (refer a few posts back), but my real point on the whole issue is that women can continue to choose this role, or they can create a new one. One where they can stand equal against anyone. Like I said before, if a woman chooses to be in porn, fine. It's her right. However, the level of respect that woman receives is not would I would want for myself. I refuse to believe that one single man reading this post can say with all honesty that they look at porn and say to themselves, "you know, I really respect that woman." No, what that man will think is, "man, I want to fuck her." This line of demarcation is where I stand. I will not diss the woman in porn, but I will choose a different path for my own self.

okay so basicly what i got out of that was
if i pick up a porn-mag with lots of women and one is way more sexy than the others, i'm suppossed to write a letter to the magazine to tell the girl "thanks for being in porn" and i got to write this letter just because she's a female instead of a male, WTF???

Judas69--- Why do you assume feminists are against femininity?

And to Akarihito, Not all women are created equal. There are plenty of reasons why some choose to go into the porn industry:

A) They grew up in a household or place where women were treated with less respect.
B) They're not as ambitious as other women (ie. "dumber". And don't give me that bullshit that some people aren't fucking stupid. Because plenty are.)
C) They crave attention from men.
D) They need easy money.
or E) They live in a society (the United States) where the porn industry is becoming almost as dominant as Hollywood over the media, and where women who look like Jenna Jameson are seen as the beauty standard.

I'm sure there are more reasons than that, but that's a good idea.

Yes, that is why I put an addendum in my original post (refer few posts back and read all, not some.)
Secondly, I hate that Oprah bitch and have never watched it in my life.
And lastly, some of you do not grasp the finer points of my second post. Which is all right. I said what I wanted to say.

so you're totally saying that there's no way in fucking hell that any of the female gender is in any way responsible for any of these things...bullshit

for a person that hates/doesn't watch Oprah, you managed to do a pretty good impersination

That's not really what I was getting at...

Oh and the whole "Girls Gone Wild" issue is something I can't even get into right now. However, what you see in those commercials is not the whole story, at all.

It's a subjective thing to say that porn and prostitution is demeaning to females anyway. I mean, would you rather have all those women unemployed? What if fucking is the only thing they know how to do? Furthermore, couldn't we just as easily argue that it is equally demeaning to the male gender when you think about the fact that men go out there and waste so much money on this shit that there's this large of a market for these women???

porn is designed to entertain males so i guess it really is demeaning to the male gender, and convincing the masses of this would be easy enough, but the male orgasm is required for reproduction, so porn is never going to go away, so the feminists will be around forever, bitching about porn being offensive to females...
