What a strange little thread this has become...

I'm not a fan of Dissection. In fairness, I've never given their music much of a chance. I've got their two classics on my iPod and have been meaning to give them a fair listen. That said, I can't say I care much about his passing. Having never been touched by his art, he's passing is no different than the thousands of nameless, faceless people who pass each day without note. The fact that he was murderer, makes me even less sympathetic to any suffering he may have endured prior to taking his own life. If he wasn't suffering, and his suicide is instead some strange choice that stamps what he believes in, than good for him for not being full of shit.

What I found interesting about Dissection is that I hear their drummer fucking sucked and Swano had to edit pretty much every second of the drum tracks on both of those albums to get them in proper timing. Can anyone who saw them live back then verify this?

the albums do not have the same drummer

i think sotlb has a bit of heavy editing, it does sound like it, but the demos of the songs, while slower, have pretty decent drumming

I saw them in '96 and it was one of the most incredible shows of my life. Dissection were nothing short of amazing, and I don't recall anything sucking at all, except their short set. Seriously, that ruled so frickin' hard, and I didn't even know who the fuck they were because I couldn't figure out their logo's font from the tiny ass flyer I had. 6 months later I read a show review and immediately bought Storm of the Light's Bane. :Spin:

I fucking loathe the reaction this has gotten. I'm with Erik and Lehto on this one. I admire the man for having conviction enough in his idealogy to stick to his guns, unlike the hordes of internet warriors who would never dare carry out any of the things they claim to condone.

And Reinkaos is a marvelous album.

You people are taking this way too seriously. He topped himself for his own reasons. Respect doesn't come into it, whether he's anticosmically summoning chaos or just rotting in the earth, it's all the same to him either way.
