Favorite Death Metal Album

 Don't hate the Corpse because of some idiot...

Not just one... Cannibal Corpse has earned themselves a legion of idiotic fans solely devoted to their album covers and songtitles... Most of them know nothing about death metal, and are barely literate. :-/

ANYWAY, I'd say Lykathea Aflame's Elvenefris would definitely be up there for me, or Intestine Baalism's Banquet In The Darkness. Undeceived by Extol is also a superb and nearly perfect album (save a few "filler"ish songs).

Every band has legions of idiots supporting it. True some bands tend to gravitate more idiots than others and for Corpse its for precisely those reasons that you listed. However it doesn't mean that the band themselves are bad but only a portion of the bands fanbase which are drawn by gimmicks and not the music itself.

I'll keep trying...
Are they really that good?

Yes. Get The Bleeding. Also recommended would be Tomb of the Mutilated and Vile. Yes they have a lot of stupid fans... so what? So does Slayer and yet Slayer are without a doubt one of the greatest bands in metal history. I mean I can't tell you how many skinheads and drunk redneck dumbshits I saw at a Slayer concert. Does that mean the band itself is bad? No.

True, and I never actually demeaned CC in my post. In fact, I think their new one is pretty good. Still, I don't consider them the best Death Metal has to offer.

Fair enough! :)

Gorod - Neurotripsicks is the best death metal album, period. Followed by Lykathea Aflame - Elvenefris.

I think you like willow tip way way too much, that album is filled with technical wanky riffs that do nothign for the album. The whole time while listening I couldn't believe of all the annoying boring shit that was going on. :puke:

Unless you are being sarcastic.

Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness, Covenant
Cannibal Corpse - Bloodthirst, Gallery of Suicide, Tomb of the Mutilated, Vile, The Bleeding
Deicide - Once Upon The Cross, Deicide, Legion
Obituary - Cause of Death
Dissection - Storm of the Light's Bane
Amorphis - The Karelian Isthmus, Tales from 1000 Lakes
Incantation - Onward to Golgotha
Immolation - Here In After
Cryptopsy - Whisper Supremacy

Any on the above list would qualify as "the best".

(Crimson also wins award for ugliest album cover I've ever seen)

You left out Blessed are the Sick, and included 5 Cannibal Corpse albums. I almost pity you.
