Primordial...

YES; but you forgot:

AS ROME BURNS

"sing... sing... sing to the slaves... sing to the slaves as... Rome burns...

^^ yes, but i could easily pick 10 another Primordial songs, like Gallows Hymn, Soul Must Sleep, Children Of The Harvest, Sons Of The Morrigan, Tragedy's Birth, Failure's Burden, Journey's End, Graven Idol, No Nation On This Earth or the above mentioned As Rome Burns. Primordial's music is just so hugely epic!

Indeed, you speak the truth. And now I think I shall go and listen to the newest album. :kickass:

epic equates to "long" in some sense (it could also be argued that subject matter is involved), hence 5-minute-or-less AE songs don't count.

Jumalten Kaupunki/Tuhatvuotinen Perinto & Jotunheim by Moonsorrow are two of the best epic metal songs my ears have heard.

A bunch that came to mind...

Ensiferum - Lai Lai Hei / The way the ''chorus'' kicks in after the solo is brilliant, and the finnish sung parts are awesome
Ensiferum - Victory Song / Killing each and every man = epic
Wintersun - Sadness and Hate / Brilliant lyrics and buildup
Wintersun - Starchild / 03:25 = :worship:
Turisas - Miklagard Overture / Epic closer: KON-STAN-TI-NOPOLIS!
Amon Amarth - Victorious March / Brutal
Iced Earth - The Coming Curse / Gotta love the awesome headbanging part at 04:25
Iced Earth - A Question of Heaven / Just beautiful... WHY WON'T YOU LET ME DIE?!
Sonata Arctica - White Pearl, Black Ocean / I love the story to this and the way it ends
Helloween - King for a 1000 Years / Great song
Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor / The climax is brilliant
Nevermore - Dreaming Neon Black / It still haunts me sometimes...

Hell yeah. The opening to Jumalten Kaupunki is one of the most epic intros ever.

Turisas - Miklagard Overture / Epic closer: KON-STAN-TI-NOPOLIS!

Absolutely badass.

The ending to Five Hundred and One, when the choir comes in, is fucking epic as hell. "The wind flew the raven banner on high..."

Victorious March

They did a 5-concert, 3-disc DVD set, and fans have ripped pretty much all of it and posted it on Youtube, so you can see most of their discography. Get stuff in this order:
Once Sent From The Golden Hall
Versus The World
With Oden On Our Side
Fate Of Norns
Avenger
The Crusher

Not really. If the music creates an epic feel, it doesn't have to be long. And a 20 minute song isn't necessarily epic.
