Thrash, Melodic Death, Folk (Otyg  )
I also love doom, stoner, and sludge all 3 which are similar.

Isn't Borknagar a mix between black and viking metal. Anyways they are one of my favorite bands.

I like those wedding metal bands. Forest & Woods metal

clouds metal, depression metal, drink metal, cemetary metal,

good stuff... all of it.

cyber-grind.... if done well, which about two bands have actually managed to do.

You mean like... Ion Dissonance?

My favourite are: Doom, black and death metal.

My fave would have to be thrash. Thrash or death with groove and tempo changes definitely pulls me in and gets me hooked.

Repeditive blastbeats bore me after a while, even if the musicianship is good.

Black and power metal are a joke for me...too many bands trying to stay within limits lyrically and musically in order to be called black or power.

I like bands that have uniqueness...some of my favorite bands are normally mixes of genres.

That is very true about Black Metal. But I tend to not like all out BM but more of the bands that mix it w/ something else. I like Borknagar and Nile a lot.

I'll go with Thrash, Power, Death, and a bit of Grindcore. \m/

P.S. This thread should've had a poll. :kickass:

In this order:

1) Doom / Death doom (all sorts of doom and stoner, not keen on drone though)

2) Thrash

3) Old Skool Death metal (inc. Gory death metal)

4) NWOBHM / Trad metal

5) New skool death metal (inc. goregrind)

6) Folk metal

7) Melodi-death

8) everything else

9) Black Metal

I like it except for me I would switch 7 and 3, 5 and 6

Battle metal, to my knowledge, while being made up usually refers to bands like Axis of Advance.

That'd be "war metal" aka fast black/death with a militant attitude...kinda originated in Australia, to my knowledge...doesn't really exist but I don't mind it being used really...

My favorites are:

1. Brutal death metal
2. Melodic DEATH metal (not melo-death!)
3. Black metal
