Ah what's wrong with you people. I like Danny's vocals almost better than Vinny's.
i agree here. songs sung by danny have different touch... and i really like his voice, it suits really good in "electricity" and "are you there?". as a matter of fact, i wouldn't want danny to sing all songs, but it's just because vincent's voice is also great, but i wouldn't want vincent to sing all songs as well! i like the way it is on "a natural disaster", 4 songs by vin, 2 songs by dan, 1 song by lee, + one "computerised" one.

ah, and i think the problem with singel is the album is very diverse, so one just can't choose the song that would be representative. actually imho "violence" is the most representative for the album, but 10min long song for a singel?

I cant really understand how can anyone dislike this album or others.. Please give us some explanation about what is wrong, what u expect more, whatever..?

Flying is a nice song, but i dunno, maybe Are you there is more easy, simple to be a single, though I dont think that any singles are needed.

and Pressure is one of my 3 favs on AFDTE abum, I think it makes one song with Release, they belong together. I dont even listen to any other songs from that album, except of the title song.

i think A Natural Disaster by Anathema is brilliant. My personal favourites are: Are You there and Electricity. Easily a couple of the best songs ive ever heard. The lads should be very proud of the album, and i hope they get some of the millions floating round in the music business! Also Danny should come back to Ireland and play another gig in the Sugar Club...please....

:erk: and you call yerself a fan :(

1. I dont call myself a fan.

2. I always listen to only the best songs from albums after a while, in general. It applies to any album. I usually make mixes on topics, like "ultra depressive playlist" and then I hate to hear any little bit of happy riffs.

3. Being a fan doesnt mean -imo- that your feelings and taste covers everything a band did (especially not if theyre this versatile), its rather about respecting their talent and nice personality and that.

im calm.. i just have different opinions.. (was it offensive to list my thoughts with numbers? lol)

Tough love and all... ...Though I am amazed to see not everyone took a swing at me, cheap shots or otherwise.

I am not happy with the album after having waited so long for it. I feel A Natural Disaster lacks distinguishing features, so it just sounds anonymous to me.. I want things more intricate and fleshed out! The idea that Anathema might continue in this direction really upsets me.
Its to your honour to accept all you accepted.not many people have the balls to do it i think.even subconsiously they pressure themselves to see beyond the fact that they get annoyed by stuff and try to persuade themselves by writting down what they *want* to believe...Its not a pleasant thing to get disappointd by your favourite band,so you try to *fix* this.

Your words cover almost all my thoughts about the album.I didnt have time or mood to write much yesterday.I just said that i have lost the utmost means of musical expression of my inner world.and this is a complaint.
i doubted much about AFDTE.I didnt listen to it for months when i bought it,cos it annoyed me.AND is different, but what worries me is that Anathema try to sound like Anybody except for Anathema...One can easily make out the *complex* that they dont wanna have anything to do with *Metal*.
Thats why the album lacks in distinguishing features as you said.Only some parts can remind us of the good old Danny guitar style...

I can honestly say that Radiohead,Portishead and all them *intellectual* bunch can fuck off right now. They are not worth even a single hair off Anathema's head. This spirit, this anger, this honesty and pain cannot be compared to any airy fairy britpop chart tunes.

To anyone who could say im not open minded:I have been following that scene(Britpop,Indie Rock etc) for years. All the representative bands of the scene, including Radiohead(i even payed 37 euros to see them live...).After some years i realised this type of music didnt fill me up.Artsy and *intellectual* music with shit lyrics says nothing to me.its not genuine enough.
So darker stuff became my thing. And Anathema was the most expressive band i could find. After some years this and goes out and worships Radiohead(!!!!).I was ready to jump off the building.Eventually,i stopped listening to Radiohead...

Apart from all this,i fully respect the work i have in my hands right now.I cannot help the situation and after all,the artist must work for his music mainly, not for his fans expectations...

ta-daaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!

Must be tough, trying to sound not like yourself. Maybe Danny is becoming one of them cursed intellectuals, enrolling in open university and everything.
