GMD Poll: Black Sabbath’s Discography Ranked

they usually do evoke a reaction: "dur, its not ozzy or dio, screw it", which is retarded and wrong

They are easily better than, or at least on par with, NSD, TS, SS, Mob Rules, Born Again, and The Devil You Know. To some, that might not mean much.

And these days, they hold the most replay value for me.

Mob Rules is good and all but The Devil You Know is pretty throw away. I was going to abstain but I might make a list later today.

Nah. Mob Rules isnt all that great. It's good, but the weakest Dio from his first three.

Headless Cross is the weakest Martin album, outside Forbidden

Damn. You're just all around wrong on Sabbath. Mob Rules is one of the greatest traditional metal albums ever and Headless Cross is clearly the best Martin-era album, (Tyr has higher highs, but lower lows).

Mob Rules is pretty weak compared to Heaven and Hell, it's still Dio though.

I don't understand this position at all. Mob Rules is far more consistent and its high are as high, if not higher than Heaven and Hell. Other than the ambient track, basically every song knocks it out of the park. It's cohesive yet dynamic and has a very well constructed emotional arc for a popular metal album. Heaven and Hell has several "solid but not great" tracks and "Walk Away" which is skipable.

I actually prefer Dehumanizer.

I heard Live Evil for the first time recently. Dio does great on those Ozzy tracks

I get that. It's darker and heavier, so if that's what does it for you, then it makes sense that it would be your preference. It's high on my list as well. Haven't heard Live Evil as I'm not big on live records, but maybe I need to give it a listen.

Exactly why ive only just heard it. I dont dig live albums. But its one of the few, or only, albums with dio on ozzy tracks

OK, since this a Sabbath thread, and I am starting to think this might be a Sabbath song, I was wondering if anyone might be able to identify this. Its at the very beginning of this clip. I know I have heard it before somewhere, but I just cannot place it. It plays as the opening to this Live clip of Led Zeppelin. It starts at :00 and ends at :15. I have tried contacting the guy who posted the video, as well as the Music Access Radio Show, other forums, etc. I have even tried the various computer programs/sites that can identify a song just by playing small segments of it, but to no avail. You guys do seem to know your metal, so maybe there is a chance here. Any help/advice would be much appreciated!

Played a bunch of early solo ozzy albums. IMO, these just arent very good. Diary of a Madman is the best of the lot. Blizzard did not age well. The Ultimate Sin has like two decent songs. No Rest for the Wicked sucks
