Close is easily one of the most monstrous death metal albums of all time, right up there with None So Vile and Onward to Golgotha, EASILY. As consistent as Immo are, I don't really see them discussed nearly as much as other bands in the upper echelons of the death metal strata; yes, they are very popular, but I don't generally hear their name as often as I do Incantation, Suffocation, Cryptopsy, or any of those level of bands just below superstar status i.e. Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, whatever. Because of that, I can't really see a single shred of merit in saying CtaWB is overrated; the majority of praise I see directed towards them is for Dawn of Possession anyway.
Also is it "close" like "close the door" or like "close to something"?? I've always wondered. Personally, I also thought Atonement was a solid return to form for them after the shitty misstep that was Kingdom. I thought it felt weak, plastic (especially production-wise, and too much in its own template. It failed to do anything that really grabbed me, which as a HUGE Immolation fanboy, is saying something.
