How does The Infernal Storm compare to the band’s previous efforts?

It doesn't. They've turned into a typical "br00thrul" band after "Diabolical Conquest".

And I disagree with Incantation's discography being perfect. Theyve definitely released some sub par shit for their standards. Infernal Storm and Blasphemy hardly get any play from me.

The Infernal Stom has flow issues. If I'm remembering correctly the second half of the album is recorded somewhere else. What happens is the second part sounds something like a black metal album and jarringly different than the other half.

feeling for Profane Nexus, some delicious riffs up there..
Indeed, surprised to see it ranked last.

Totally agree with Obliv's comment there.
I've come to appreciate Blasphemy even more since I wrote that. The title track, A Once Holy Throne, Uprising Heresy, Misanthropic Indulgence, ect… Really great stuff.

7) Dirges of Elysium (2014)

I don't think Incantation really has anything bad, but Dirges of Elysium is their best shit since Diabolical Conquest/The Infernal Storm. Vanquish in Vengeance is great also. I don't remember it being bad, but I do not listen to Blasphemy at all. Maybe I will give it another listen.

Blasphemy is awesome. Incantation is the most consistent Death Metal band out there, I would say Vanquish in Vengeance is their best since The Infernal Storm, Dirges of Elysium is next, really love the production on it too, lots of power.

6) Primordial Domination (2006)

Incantation: primordial domination, best Incantation since the first 3 and if a death metal fan do not hesitate to buy this.

Decimate Christendom and Primordial Domination are superior to the prior two albums, but aren't quite of the caliber of their first three. But I like how they changed their sound on those albums, although the drummer's tapping sound tends to annoy me a little bit.

Listened to Vanquish in Vengeance again today. The only newer immolation album that can compare is unholy cult.

It's standard Incantation. I do like Vanquish in Vengeance, but everything blends together other than [Onward to Golgotha and Diabolical Conquest]

3) Diabolical Conquest (1998)

I just listened to this record again, and I must admit that I seldom have received such a severe asskicking than this here album gave me. It's death metal on its absolutely finest. The band conjurs some pretty dark images with their music, and it's got this brilliant flow throughout the whole album. Mid-tempo passages tend to bore me sometimes, but I'm surprised to say that Incantation are almost as good when playing in mid-tempo than they are when they play faster stuff. They sometimes resemble Immolation (especially the album "Close To A World Below"), only they are better (imo). The riffs are some of the best I've ever heard, and the drumming is fantastic. Perhaps not the most technical drumming, but extremely good. Some death metal songs are ruined by too much blast beating, but I feel that the blast beating on this record is a bit.. different. It sounds just right every time the blast beats are used. The best song is probably "Shadows Of The Ancient Empire", or the epic 17 minute song Unto Infinite Twilight/Majesty Of Infernal Damnation. CHECK THIS OUT!!!!!!!!

Onward To Golgotha is sick, but Diabolical Conquest was a wee bit better work with a masterpiece of epic proportions as the closing track.

Diabolical Conquest is the best The Chasm album. Even though it's technically Incantation. :)

Onward To Golgotha is like churning in the fiery muck of the dankest pits of hell. Not so much occult evil as just abysmally hellish.

I don't get the hype surrounding Incantation. Onward To Golgotha really doesn't do anything for me.

Happy OTG day!

This Good Friday, celebrate Onward To Golgotha day with friends, family and loved ones.

Well, I've only heard Onward to Golgotha and it's excellent. Cavernous ambient brutality:kickass:

The production on Onward to Golgotha is a bit blurry/muddy at times (like when the blasting and vocals kick in in the first song). Great album, but it would even be better with clearer production. Onward to Golgotha and Pierced from Within is a tossup for me, though I may give the edge to Onward to Golgotha.

1) Mortal Throne of Nazarene (1994)

Mortal Throne of Nazarene is my favorite. That album has a blasphemous sound that overtakes most black metal bands.

Works like Mortal Throne of Nazarene invert the very idea of transcendence by subsuming spirituality to the dismemberment of the body and the decay of flesh.

I like Immolation but I have to give Incantation the edge. They've always left a bigger impression on me. Especially on "Onward to Golgotha" and "Mortal Throne of Nazarene." Those albums have such a sound and an atmosphere that is so sinister and otherworldly.

Funny how #5 through #8 are all so close to each other. For some reason I feel like I've never seen any of their albums after the first three posted or discussed anywhere. I should just listen to a few at random.
