Guitar Player's Thread

Here some other videos of the pickups that I don't think I posted before, and will hopefully prove helpful.

I've recently gained a interest in Bareknuckle pickups but i cant say i know much about them, anyone have first hand experience? Stories?

Walls of youtube links are all fine and dandy but i'd prefer first hand experience stories and explanation, ive heard sound samples already

When did Dimarzio hire you? :err:

Maybe they should. :p

I don't have any firsthand experience, but they're probably the one brand I've heard nothing but good things from. I was researching them heavily a while ago, and tried finding all the feedback and info I could. I couldn't find a single person who didn't like them.

Also, I forgot to mention that if you contact the dudes at Bareknuckle, and tell them what you want in a pickup tone-wise, they can make one specifically for your needs or modify any of the existing ones to your specifications.

8-string?

Going to play a little Meshuggah, are we?

But yeah, the Nailbomb and Warpig are two of their best ones from what I hear. At least for heavier styles.

I've also heard very good things about the warpig, though never tried one.

Good luck with the 8 string. Prepare to spend quite some time getting used to it, but when you do it will probably be awesome.

Not really Meshuggah, just need a new guitar and ive been looking into 7 strings for over a year now, but i also have been thinking about making some concept albums which i'd love to get some extremely low range on. Other uses might include tuning the guitar like a sevenstring from the lowest string up, and tune the high E string to like, A.
Just exploring stuff.
I'll check them out, thanks:D

Yeah I guess its gonna take a little while, but i'll manage ;)

Theres a Pro model too with neckthru and all that, but it has a maple fretboard and i dont really like them on any other than vintage, or white guitars.

Edit:
Some random specs: Ash body, Ebony fretboard, Maple neck. 28.625 inch scale, 24 jumbo frets

Schecter has some too, but they're limited edition for 2009. One is based off their C series, and the other is a V.

And ESP makes an LTD one aside from the pricey Stephen Carpenter sig.

8-Strings are also actually used by some Jazz guitarists, like Charlie Hunter. Though his is quite a bit different as you can see below, having fanned frets and 3 actual bass strings over 5 normal ones.

My only real problem with them, aside from being cumbersome, is that the 8th string pushes the guitar's tonal range even further into the side of the mix that the bass handles. So when you have a full band going, you really won't be able to hear it that well, especially in a live setting. Even more so if you're playing a passage that's more intense and "busy", musically.

I actually beleive the 8s have been made into regular production. Atleast the C model. They are pretty darn affordable too to be 8 string :D Hot stuff...I would like one!

The guitar is working, I just get hum when volume control is all the way down, and i'm not touching any metal component of the guitar.

Take into consideration, I have absolutely NO experience in this. But I can solder pretty basic.

Here's a pic:

Any help would be appreciated, I also don't know the technical terms for this and that, so keep that in mind.

And feel free to point and laugh:lol:
