Guitar Player's Thread

Schecter has some too, but they're limited edition for 2009. One is based off their C series, and the other is a V.

And ESP makes an LTD one aside from the pricey Stephen Carpenter sig.

8-Strings are also actually used by some Jazz guitarists, like Charlie Hunter. Though his is quite a bit different as you can see below, having fanned frets and 3 actual bass strings over 5 normal ones.

My only real problem with them, aside from being cumbersome, is that the 8th string pushes the guitar's tonal range even further into the side of the mix that the bass handles. So when you have a full band going, you really won't be able to hear it that well, especially in a live setting. Even more so if you're playing a passage that's more intense and "busy", musically.

Yeah i can see what your problem with them are, but i wont be using it in such a fashion, just because i have 8 strings doesnt mean i have to use the bottom two at all times, i'll be using those when i musically feel i need to, passages, bridges, stuff like that, but as i will be mixing myself im going to find a way to bring the guitar forth in one way or another, haha.

The LTD one is shit and i wouldnt buy it at all, its got a fucking 25.5 inch scale! Thats not nearly enough for a 8 string, those strings are gonna be sloppy and hard to intonate, not for me. I dont know what Schecter works with, with their 8 strings, but man that V was butt ugly..

I don't really like 8 strings, feels too bulky for me plus I think the same as Delanoir regarding the lower strings VS bass thing.

Shit, these sounds amazing D:

Yep, they really do, was pretty surprised with them. I'm even considering swapping my 81 with a Crunchlab.

Wooh, totally missed that link. They do sound pretty nice!

Oh and the accent just slipped in by mistake :(

That's ok, don't worry :)

I'm writing shittons of songs, go into the proper youtube vid and look at the tags to get a clue at what that particular one may be about

I can see what you mean, and there's of course nothing wrong with doing whatever you feel suits you musically, or experimenting to see what you like best.

And the LTD one is pretty crappy, especially with that much-too-short scale length. I'm just trying to give you as much info on your options as possible. Schecter is a very good company, especially about 7 and 8 string guitars. Phenom can attest to their quality, I am sure. I would agree about the V being ugly, though.

oh i like Schecter, im planning on aquiring a few of them sometime in the future, i was more refering to what scale lenght they were operating on for the 8 string :) I know they use 26.5 inch for 7 strings, which i feel personally "should" be 27 inch, but at least for 8 strings im not gonna get something sub-27".

I'm really interested in a few of their 7 string models, and even some 6 string ones. That V, eh, my main annoyance at it is that its a roundhorn, dont really like those. Seemingly from that picture its not a symmetrical V, looks like the lower horn is slightly longer, but might just be my eyes tricking me. Symmetrical V's also put me off, but oh well. I appreciate the information btw, thank you! :)

It's not just you, the lower one is longer, which I think is retarded. The scale length for their 8's is still 26.5, but I haven't played one to know how it feels.

And no problem! Happy to help. Here's some videos of people demoing the schecter C-8

Awesome job dude! That was hilarious.

It's stupid that the contest forbids any profanity. I also think that they don't count any videos that are longer than 5 minutes.

Holy fuck Jeff Loomis never ceases to amaze me. Heres a bunch of new videos from his clinics in Europe. If you only watch a few, watch the ones from Gothenburg and Stockholm. He plays Enemies, Jato Unit, and Miles Of Machine perfectly (not to say the other songs aren't played great)

Ensi- Since you have only one pickup and no tone knobs it should be easy to isolate the problem. The red wire from the EMG cable solders to the 'hot', which is usually the selector switch, but since your guitar doesn't have the toggle/selector I am not sure where that would solder to. Judging from the picture it appears everything is connect correctly.

Sorry for not helping much
