Guitar Player's Thread

The software it comes with is just for guitar amp modeling, just like the software INSIDE your pdx4. Its not recording software, it will not record any audio.

One of the benifits to the toneport's software ampfarm is that you can edit your amp presets/effects/controls on your computer screen and it looks nice. You can also download preset patches from the internet

no shit dude, if you only knew how much $$ worth I have in recording software (that i didnt pay for ) like $20k+!

I was just saying that its probably easier and faster for him to download a free program legally, than to deal with broken torrents, installing isos, keygens,

or a dongle emulator ;)

I'm running Cubase 5 right now

$20k?!?! Holy shit man! :lol::kickass:

yeah dude its crazy how expensive recording software is

A big chunk of that is the Waves Mercury Bundle (91 plug-ins) $6,922 :OMG:

plus a ton of other plug ins I have, plus multiple Drum, synth, orchestra VSTs,

It gets nutty

I think it sounds better too, but you can't record with mics with it as opposed to the toneport, and I bet it has a lot of latency too...

I'd look for something else, like the tascam us-122 mk2, got all what you need, 2 mic inputs, 2 line inputs, midi in and out, cubase le4
around €135,-

I never tested it has excellent reviews, of course it's not top of the line, but it is definetly for beginners.

How can you mic a toneport?

so toneport wins!

no.
shitty digital amp emulation sucks.
Only the mic preamps are ''ok''.

dude everything is free with torrents

you wont get protools started unless you have some mbox or m-powered shit.

plus:
Protools (and those fucking mboxs and soundcards) are retardedly expensive but it's a nice programm(HD owns your ass), waaaayyy 'better' than cubase(also logic is more 'professional' than cubase but only for mac so I'm not gonna mention it :/ ) and the other mentioned.
And Cubase may seem expensive too, but if you're earning money with your music, I think you should but that kind of stuff.
I may sound like a twat to you but I also buy Cds :loco:

And using torrents here in germany is extremely dangerous anyhow

What do you use for orchestration (especially strings) or Choir Ah VSTi?

How can you mic a toneport?

Yeah, I was talking about my own UX2, which has 2 xlr inputs

Ah.
That reminds me, does anyone know if mono-channel mics have stereo sound when used in conjunction with a toneport?

xlr is always a mono signal, but what do you mean with stereo sound?

what? can you hook me up with a working M-Powered version? :p

I you mean protools m powered, you need to buy a piece of hardware by M audio to get it working.

Well my mic didn't come with an XLR, only line-in, and it only records into the left channel. I was assuming since guitar records into both channels with the toneport perhaps mics would too?

I might be wrong, but I guess that's why vikk asked for an emulation ;)
Because lowberg told him how he doesnt need a dongle for cubase because he can emulate it with software.

I got a mbox, so fuck that :p

yeah, i have the M-Audio Firewire solo, but i've download a couple of Pro Tools M-powered, but never get it working.
I might get a Mbox later next year

Yep, like the line in signal the xlr input receives a mono input and puts them onto your two channels.
that aint ''real stereo'' because you have on both of your channels the same stuff.
I'm not talking about the signal which comes out of your speakers if you use amp simualtors like guitar rig or gear box.
