Guitar Player's Thread

I was searching the net and suddendly came across this :erk:

Kirk with Trivium and a Trivium shirt??:erk: :erk:

^ I couldn't care less for the likes of Trivium and Metallica, but it just seems they're wearing the t-shirts of the other guys band for publicity. Kinda like when Alexi had a photoshoot with ZW and SV, they were swapping guitars.

on randall site it says 8/16 and on every fukkin review it says 4 and 8...im confused
i hope this will help you. OHM means resistance. standard OHM on equipment like stereo system guitar amplifiers is 8 OHM
off course there are 4 and 2 and 16 what it means is if you connect 8ohm head to 8 ohm cab you will have all of your 600W or as much as it says that this cab can produce (and the head it self offcourse) if you take your 8ohm head and connect to 4 ohm cab you will get on max volume (lets say the head is 600W) 1200W out of your cab. this sounds great but the only problem with this is you might burn your head like that.
there for if you use 4OHM head 600W on 8 ohm cab you will have 300W max out of your cab and you wont have any risk of burning it.
and like MrFast said you might see this mixes all over its only a matter for you how much W do you need and are you willing to risk it.
i would say go ahead mix 8ohm head with 4ohm cab just don't push it to the max and you will be just fine.

Yes thx...tha helped alot!:D well then the next step i wonder what really is the randalls OHMage(the rh-50 t) Coz the reviews say its 4/8 and that they miss the 16 ohm output and the randall site now says 8 and 16. Is those ohms on the head mono? so to say if you put a 8 ohm mono cab in it for stereo it will still be like that...itll just be like 2x4 ohms? Im confused by this whole thing and i hate randalls site since it seems to be so weird. i mean 4/8 the reviews say and 8/16 their site says...so woud it be safest then to buy a 8 ohm cabinet? But is those ohm in mono or stereo? i dont get that. I mean the Heads OHMS then :D Sorry for the confusion but id wanna get this clarified since im a n00b and dont wanna blow up my rig first day i get it or buy wrong cab. thx for all your help this far btw :) I just want to know what cab to get and be sure i wont torch it.

Theres 3 different ohmage cabs and i afford those too but wich one(s) are the ones that wont blow up EVEN if youd push it to the limit? But basically youre saying that even if it woud be 8 ohms(the head) it wont hurt to get a 16 ohm cab? but vice versa woud be a risk?

And just out of curiosity...are Harley benton cabs shit? I still trust behringer more coz i need a Cheap cab that aint that crap!

Yeah and hope this explains my situation:
I dont know what ohms it really is. 8/16 on randall site and reviews and some shops 4/8

Compare the output ohms.

I recorded that song i wrote, improved a few parts... doesn't sound too bad for my first attempt at song writing i think, but would like some critisim.

The recording sounds pretty good imo, except for the arpeggios, which i can't really hear that well. But as i said before, the composition seems to revolve around the same two chords, it doesn't "go" anywhere.

True true, it is fairly basic - but then again one of my favourite songs (Nothing by Norther) revolves around 2 chords the whole song aswell :p

I guess people have different taste.

.. and skill, haha. I didn't know much about writing a song or anything a few days ago, could hardly use Guitar Pro... but learn't fairly quickly.

btw, my 2 other favourite bands are Ensiferum and Wintersun, in case you thought i had crap taste :p

I know you like them aswell, but what i meant was that people have different taste, so what someone thinks sounds like shite, another can can appreciate. I thought you had some good melodies going in your song, and the drums were cool, but it for my taste, it didn't really progress anywhere.
