Guitar Player's Thread

Hey, that's cool, too bad i can't think of anything to search for

except some pron

I've been working on tapping arpeggios in the style of Michael Romeo and I'm having troubles hammering the notes from nowhere then pulling of without making the noise of the open string. I can play most of sea of lies just fine but a lick like the one in the vid causes trouble due to hammering /tapping then string skipping. I've been gradually building speed and I was wondering if anyone could help or give suggestions.

Depends if i have a chord progression done or not. But most of the time i just "play" it in my head and then write it down.

I have a problem...i come up with these awesome riffs but i cant write em donw and i forget em...anyone else know how that feels?

Learn guitar pro so you can write it down easily, or just record it so you know how it sounds.

What exactly are you asking for? because it seems to me you don't need any help

Oh and..
[ youtube ] code thingy after 'v=' [ / youtube ]

without the spaces

I've never actually tried to practice only legato before, because i prefer the more aggresive sound of AP, but i tried some legato on a lick today, and i never realised i could make it that much faster. In this thing i recorded the first 20 seconds are legato 16th triplets at 110 bpm, which basically took no effort at all, and the 20 seconds after that is AP at 95bpm, which actually takes concentration, atleast for me. My muting still sucks, but i'm working on it.

Sorry for not making myself clearer, but how do you mute the strings when it involves hammering/tapping on all the strings. Its easy when your playing van halen licks but with string skiping and hammer ons from nowhere it becomes :zombie: I can play the lick in the previous video post at about 100 bpm decently but Romeo plays 172 :erk: I guess he plays at supersonic speeds that you can't even hear the string noise

it was nice. the legato wasn't sloppy

sounds like a worthy thing to practice. post tabs let me see if i can do it

Those were the tempo's i recorded it with.

If you listen to his sounds you'll notice that he doesn't use alot of distorton, so try decreasing your distortion if you haven't done that already.

actually i never did legato like that. for those licks i usually shred but obviously legato is much easier and works as well. that was the point you were trying to prove?
