Guitar Player's Thread

Wow the attention to detail is incredible. I'm really liking the relic look on guitars but I expect they'll be selling at ridiculously high prices.

that yngwie tribute guitar is probably going to be like 10 grand or something like the EVH ones were.

i gotta get my scalloped RG up and running again, it needs a new bridge, damn thing wont stay in tune if you bend a freakin note

Hm. Speaking of Fenders.

I'm visiting my grandfather on Saturday, and I'm gonna play his '57 MIJ Squier Strat, It looks like Yngwie's strat, actually.

I might ask to borrow it while he's in Florida for 8 months, but I am way too shy.

Well, i just ordered all the parts.
Its going to sound like this:

Well, most people get recommended to buy some books about guitar building.

If you were dutch i could give you loads of information about building guitars etc, but i'm afraid you are not.
Anyway, here are some nice sites:

http://www.mimf.com/
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/4469/index.html
http://www.ormsbyguitars.com/index.html

Thanks, I know the first and the last link - ormsby is just the king of building. His Saxon multiscale looks so extremely awesome. And of course you are right, a book is necessary. I have a cool one on my pc and I'll buy it in the german version (it's called "Building E-Guitars" or something).

The amp sounds nice, don't know about band situation though. I was not amazed by the clean channel, but I was surprised when I heard the gain.

Wooo, new delivery!!

1997 USA Jackson RR1 - Eerie Dess Swirl Finish.

Poplar body
22 jumbo frets
Ebony fretboard
Original Floyd Rose - black
Mother Of Pearl inlays & Jackson logo
White binding
EMG 81 & 85, brand new

A nice upgrade from my Japanese Jackson Stars, which had alder body, Schaller trem, and EMG HZ pickup (replaced with a J-50BC, of course).

As soon as I plugged it in and chugged on the low E, I could tell it was sooooooo much better sounding because of the poplar body, I love it. I will never own an alder body guitar again!

The action and trem setup is great, I won't adjust it in anyway, and it came in Eb, so I'll be leaving it there. When I tuned my Stars down to D, it totally fucked up the intonation and I do NOT want that to happen to this too.

This was my first time playing an Original Floyd Rose, and it's so amazing! I know the Schaller trems are made in the same German factory but they feel nothing alike. If you have one, replace it now. The flutters on this thing are so easy and sound perfect. I haven't yet mastered it yet, but I'm sure I'll be getting lots of practice.

The only flaws on this guitar at all is the chip on the higher wing, which is nearly impossible to avoid on an RR shaped guitar, especially one that was made 11 years ago. Apart from that, the only other thing I would change would be the addition of an extra two frets. I'm loving the neck pickup option, because I can get nice warm tones when I'm playing a quick run during a solo or something.

Well, here's the media. Lots of pics first, then a quick shitty soundclip thing that I did in like a minute.

I'll take a group shot of all 5 guitars later.

And here's the audio, quickly with clipping, yay. I'll make some better sounding recordings another time, when I've got something to record and when I don't completely suck.

Pffft, i own a schaller floyd rose, and ive played numerous OFR's, and theres nothing wrong with the flutters on my Schaller, nor have there been on other schaller fitted guitars ive tried

Congrats on the guitar though, it looks great :kickass:

Well mine didn't perform properly from when I first got it, brand new from Japan on the Stars. Maybe I had a dodgy one or something but it's nothing compared to the original, in my experience, at least.

Awesome stuff Mitch, it looks amazing. How are you adjusting to the 22frets? :p

I haven't really done alot up there, but there's not much difference. The bending on these strings up there at the 22nd fret is SO easy, it's actually a pleasure to bend to E, instead of fretting it. :D

The only thing I can't do is Emin arpeggios with a tapped high root, which isn't a big deal at all, though.
