Guitar Player's Thread

I wasn't trying to do a natural harmonic, I was trying to tap, as you said, but it didn't go so well:(

No problem! :)

By the way, check this kid. He's 15 and he plays fucking well. (Click on "You Tube" to see them)

I think I might get one of those Flextone III's actually, usually I wouldnt even think of touching anything Line 6 (apart from maybe a Pod), but I've managed to break my poor little Roland Cube so I'm in need of a cheap replacement (got too many festivals to pay for, and I'm going to Uni soon so saving for a nice badass tube amp would be pretty pointless.)

And this guy manages to squeeze a pretty decent tone out of it, using just the amps effects.

And awesome playing:

Can anyone tell me how to get a good lead tone with a Korg Px4D? I have like 3 pretty good rythm tones which all have a great sound but I can't get a good lead tone. I don't want to have too much chorus in out (no chorus would be the best) and maybe with a little echo or hall in out to give it a wider sound.
If anybody could tell me good settings would be really nice.

You two, to achieve this:

Take some of this:

Tear off a tiny bit of it, and put it down the hole where the tremolo arm goes.

Works like a charm. Believe me, try it!

Exactly, that's what i did back when i had my LTD. Although, my RR24's tremolo arm does not need such. Lucky!

And mine does stay in tune pretty well...don't know what my pals have been tampering with yer gutiars

@enseh: You play so good you make me all wet

I'd like to help you, but I never achieved a leadtone I'm happy with, at least not for metal.

@Arcane

For what I think is a good lead tone I use plenty of mids, a fair of amount of highs and bass at 5. I use the 80s cab and the AC15. I keep the distortion moderate and boost it with a tube preamp.

GuitariSteve I'm impressed. Your tone sounds great and your playing is clean. I been checking out your other videos. I like the Final Product solo you basically nailed it man. Your the 1st person I respect in this god forsaken forum board. Keep up the good work, soon you will be getting laid by many chicks, and possibly men.

I don't have my Korg here but if I remeber right I have an 80s cab and the AC15 as a rythm sound but it's too muddy or muffled for a lead sound. My bass is at 1 or 2 (because of my blckout and MM-04), my mids are between 4 and 5 and my treble is at 6 or 7 I think. I will tell you what I have tomorrow when I have my Korg back and I will try a few hours for a new lead tone... let's see. But thx guys

Change your cab, make sure your channel volume is at 10, and have a nice reverb, not too much gain, no delay and I've stopped using chorus as much.

Let's hope this will happen some day! You can copy and paste all the text for the guy! :)

I don't know why but when I play "Midnight Madness" my left thumb hurts so much I never finish the song. It usually happens on this riff:

I almost always keep my thumb behind the neck because that's how I learnt to play the classical guitar. I'm probably doing something wrong.

My thumb is poiting to the headstock to then slide to F#5.

I guess the pictures won't help!

What I can add is that I always practice and play sat down and sometimes I have to prevent my neck to point downwards by "supporting" it with my left hand. I guess that's why it hurts.
