HEATHEN CRUSADE PART 2 !! List bands that should appear

Well pass the blanket and the warm milk. :)

The thing with Iced Earth is, they draw a different type of metal crowd. You want to sell tickets sure. But you also want to create a type of atmosphere the likes of which you seen in Minnesota. That atmosphere was primarily created by people who flew and drew hundreds of miles to see this show. Now if you bring IE in, all you will be getting is local power metal junkies and dudes with blue hairdo's and
I.C.P shirts (true story). None of which will appreciate Negura Bunget, Agalloch, Hammers or any other band you plan on giving a platform.

don't you worry about the details, my moustachioed friend

Just one band ONE BAND that I like.

Seriously. That shit looked fun and I would've loved to have hung out with some RC foolz but christ. What a completely unappetizing list of bands. Well, I'd like to see Primordial and Novembers Doom. But not a 2000 mile trek.

we wouldn't draw flies to a NADfest if we smeared every entrant in cowshit on the way in

no offense of course mate :D

Well, let me step in here because Iced Earth was my suggestion over a band like Enslaved, just because you need *some* drawing power and it helps that they're from the US.

IE attracts all sorts of fans: power metal, heavy metal, thrash fans. True or traditional heavy metal bands always headline for a reason -- they become a common ground. IE are also *probably* not as expensive as say, Manowar, Megadeth, or Dio.

That said, I'm not paying for it so all this is a moot point. :D

Correct, it's a different crowd altogether. You really wouldn't want more than a 300 capacity type venue for Agalloch, Hammers, and Negura. In fact, those bands would probably PREFER to play smaller venues.

I gotta say though, I am VERY CERTAIN that 300 people would show up for Agalloch, Negura, and Hammers. Hell, I'd talk to my bank manager about a loan for something like that. Throw in an Empyrium reunion? Shit, I'd sell a kidney. :loco:

Holy shit.

@gugs, nah fuck that! I want a god damn stoner fest in the fucking states god fucking dammit! That shit happens in Europe all the time but never over here! The best I've seen was Hermano, Fatso Jetson, Biblical Proof of UFOs, and... I think one more band but I forget. Fucking ruled! In some fucking bar in the desert. Tons of people, lots of chicks, lots of fun, etc. Why can't someone organize that but bigger in the desert god dammit?! FUCK!!!

man, I leave for 6 hours and you guys yap all afternoon like a bunch of yentas ...

ok

#1. what is this comment from kupshi that they did not break even on HC? I thought it was a success ... or does success mean that the bands and the 6 people from RC left with a smile? :loco: ...
(personally I think the admission price was a litte innexpensive for something this huge)

#2. for this RC fest, maybe we can involve the HC organizers somehow ?!?!?!?
I really believe a well organized and advertised fest can draw a big number in NY/NJ ...

going to eat some enchiladas ... talk to me people

They could have doubled the price of the ticket and I would have still gone, but I don't know about what general folks can afford.

Good idea.

But first, get the man with the $ to sign up. :loco:

well, the guy with the $$$, no worries about him, it is all about his ego ... he is not into this type of metal, but would love to see his name in lights and maybe have one band he wants on the bill ...

from what you saw in MN, Ali ... do you think if that same gig was in NY that attendance could have been easily double? ... for the same lineup?

Yes. You have to factor in basic facts & stats. NY has:

- more people
- easier to get to
- surrounding states - NJ, CT, PA, and you can't dismiss MA, RI, and of course DC

Then there are drawbacks -- expensive hotels for example. Venue costs have to be higher too.

There is no doubt in my mind that a potential RC fest should be held in NJ.

HC could've charged $50 - figure 600 tickets sold = $30K

In NYC, I'm near-certain the number would've/could've gotten closer to 1000, and that's not a slight on Kris & John at all, it's just that the population density alone would've almost guaranteed 500-600 in walk-up traffic.

well ... the hotel costs are easily offset by the travel expenses the bands have to make from NY to a place like MN ... that is a moot point.

venues are most likely higher priced, yes .. I agree.

but if we attempt something, ticket prices for an all day affair like this should be $40-50 ... and we can get this I am sure.

heavy advertising ... strong word of mouth ... and at least 1000 capacity venue ... although bigger would not hurt.

Starland Ballroom is a dream and most likely very expensive ...

NJ is good but it forces you to drive ... if we have an all ages show, I rather try somewhere in the boroughs where public transportation is easy

Sorry -- not following you here. Why would bands be travelling from NY to MN?
