Is metal driven by hate?

For me the bulk of metal is about hate and it is healthy. I am having a stupid debate with some stupid fs, who are trying to tell me that a. metal is not about hate at all. b. that hate is unhealthy.

I know that a lot of it is not but the bulk of it is, right? It seems blatantly obvious to me so I am sorry if this seems like a stupid question.

A lot of people could say that it is about an entire array of different emotions but I think that predominantly it is about hate.

I don't understand how someone can watch a video from David Lee Roth or Dokken and still think metal's driven by hate

What is 'metal' anyway, is Zeppelin metal? Is the Algorithm metal? Genre definitions are subjective, so it's very possible that you define metal as a specific kind of music and that therefore, for you that relationship is an axiom... For someone who listens to bands like Steel Panther, obviously it isn't

Ask me? Man, it's like all other corporately produced and distributed music, period. It's driven by women (for the artist) and money (for the label). Period.
