It has certainly ran out of new ideas.

Listen to Imagika, any album except that last fuckiing album... Devils on Both Sides is their best album, though it's not pure thrash, maybe modern thrash, I don't know but it's killer.

Death metal is an offshoot of thrash, so it's expected to hear some thrash influence.
Yeah, but Vader have more than the average modern death metal band. They are borderline death/thrash.

I voted yes because the thrash "scene" these days is pretty much a tribute to what it was twenty years ago.

Edit: At least based on the bands that I've heard.
But that's the point. Showing respect to your influences. And that is what's great about thrash. It can be generic and cliche and stil be AWESOME.

I like how, despite multiple people listing 30 or so currently active quality truly THRASH bands, people are still saying that it's dead. Granted that there is very little room for innovation, but that is inherent in the form.

Wow, you're really smart. Good point, I want to change my answer.

Well then how do you figure it's dead if it is obviously alive and kicking? Just because it's not right out in the open doesn't mean it's a bad/dead scene.

i think i have forgotten more about metal music than most guys know about metal in here. I am just taking a light hearted view ABOUT METAL but if you want to be so serious then no problem

it's not. Slayer is still alive so when all the members of that fucking great band will be buried six feet under the ground u'll be able to say that Thrash metal is dead.

Not dead. The german trio is still making good albums. Overkill's last album was decent. If you only know thrash as Slayer and Metallica, then you might as well be dead.
