the last good thrash album I heard was "sodom" by sodom

not quite "dead yet" but I don't think it will ever return to its glory days
Yes, that is easily one of my top 5 releases of the year. Sodom have been quite consistent throughout their career, and never went to shit, like so many other veteran thrash bands have.

still play many CDs by 80's thrash bands (anthrax, slayer, 'talica) though

what more can new thrash bands do with thrash though that hasn't been done countless times before by better bands??

If you look at things like that, you would only listen to a very select few bands.

The last thrash album from Testament is souls of black, the ones after are just pretty much heavy southern style groove metal. Regardless Testament is pretty overrated. the first two are good

nothing classic about them imo

well he's right. its a thrash band, more or less playing very south american heavy metal. although if you forced a gun to my head, id still call it thrash. the gathering, low and demonic are all similar in sound. the ritual is the one true exception out of their catalogue.

Yes. Metallica and Pantera ARE dead. Also Sodom's Sodom was pretty fucking boring aswell. The last thing keeping me not to say that trash is dead is Testament's Live in london DVD which is great. Shame that their last releases were bad (or not so trashy)...
