Does anyone else find it funny to play a place called "Jammin' Java?"

Can this place handle a show like this?

R.

ha ha ha! that's funny.

ok so i just got in from work, sorry i missed all the fun here lol.

daylight dies says that they have a tour booked for that month, but still asked who was playing, so i am not sure if that is interest or what?

as for live shows, as long as there are monitors, we are good.

like lauri said, we aren't to pickey either, so do what you can!

\m/

I say we try to get it set up..seems like a cool place.. Can you give them a call for us Laurie? I know that metal bands have played there plenty of times in the past...so i'm assuming high decibels shan't be an issue..

wow ari, place looks classy, a bit small though. i think it will be cool.

i didn't know you were ari by the way lol. how ya been?
been pretty well.....finals week now though, so things are fairly intense with school....and i've got this song i wrote that i've been working on for over a week, and i'm trying to have finished before i go home for break.

metal bands have definitelly played at JJ before....i've never been there though, so i can't give much of an opinion of it as a venue.....i can talk to some people who have though.

What happened to the good ole' 3 piece band? HAHA! Isn't there like 35 members in SoB anyway... maybe we should book a place with an orchestra pit and a podium for Dan to stand on to direct his symphony! HAHA!

Will, book whatever you think works best... the baton has been passed... run with it brother!

R.

Hahahah if we had a 3 piece band we would have to have a computer onstage with us to be the drummer (since a certain person wouldn't fly here from CA :p P)

Wow it is good that I actually have been coming back here to check the forum :D

Okay I will call grrrrrrrrrr! You know how crazy stressed and hormonal I have been recently from talking to me through IM.

Infact I should probably not even be corresponding with normal people at this moment.

I will take their number with me to work and try to call them today, hopefully they are not booking divas :D

heheh :p:pPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

OH CRAP:
If you are interested in performing at Jammin' Java, please read the following:

There are basically 3 performance "roles" at Jammin' Java. Headliner, Co-headliner, and Opener. Headliners should be able to draw at least 75 people on a weeknight and at least 150 people on a weekend. Co-bills should be able to draw at least 35 people on a weeknight and at least 75 people on a weekend. Openers are generally unpaid and draw is not as much of an issue. These are not hard and fast rules, just general guidelines. (see below for alternative performance opportunities)

1. Please direct all booking inquiries to Daniel Brindley at daniel@jamminjava.com. Do not send unsolicited promo kits/CDs. E-mail correspondence is preferable to phone correspondence.
2. In your e-mail, please indicate how you'd fit best as a performer at Jammin' Java (Headliner, Co-Headliner, Opener), what date(s) you are interested in, and include a link to your web site (if you have one).
3. If a promo kit/CD is requested, please send to:
Jammin' Java
Attn: Daniel
227 Maple Ave. E.
Vienna, VA 22180

4. If you are booked to perform at Jammin' Java, we expect you to heavily promote your show.

This probably means 3 band requirement and we have 5 bands, 150 people requirement (which I cannot be sure of because I have no idea who will and will not come to the show), I don't know what to do about the press kit situation since we are a tour.

I will however email him and tell him the situation and say that it is a tour of 5 bands, we are not positive of the draw but two of the bands are local and that all the bands will promote it well. We can see if they will be willing to go with it with our honesty.

Okay, I just emailed the guy from Jammin Java.

I think that I wrote a pretty damn convincing email, I would book us if I read it.

I will say this however, if he doesn't respond, or doesn't want to do it. Then the ball is your court Bill/William (which do you go by now?)

Well..i've got a booking agent that is interested in helping us out on this show if it's in Richmond.. which is nice if we want to use their resources.. So is Jammin Java working out or not?
I haven't heard shit from The Brewery in Raleigh...annoying...

If you have a connection for booking in Richmond, I would go ahead and do that.

I have not heard back from them yet and it says that would prefer that I not call in the instructions, so it is hard to say whether or not Jammin Java would work out. I would say that you should at the same time try to find a gig in Richmond and whatever one works, works.

pardon my interruption, but what about Baltimore? sort of a mid-way point, and they have The Ottobar, The Sidebar, The Talking Head, etc

I was considering Baltimore as well (since our drummer lives right there) However, DC area is in the middle of NoVA and Baltimore so that may be able to bring people from both locations. If we did it strictly in Baltimore it would bring strictly a Baltimore crowd. But perhaps it coudl bring down some PA people. Does KoTC have a gig in PA?

Since I have not played Baltimore very much I am not sure what the doom metal turn out is like. I can contact the Ottobar about it (the sidebar may work too, the sound from what I remember a long time ago was lacking but doable I suppose)

I think however, regardless of all this that it would be a good idea that if Bill continues to look down in Richmond for shows simultaneously, then at least something will work out.

(there is also Fletchers in Baltimore)

Getting a show in richmond..for us..that isn't a problem.. However...I'm not hearing anything back from Raleigh right now... Could it be possible to do richmond one night, and DC/Baltimore another night as an alternative if things don't work out?
