I'll let you off because Anno Domini is amazing, but I don't think it's quite on the same level as De Mysteriis Dom Sathans (this took the longest time of all the Norwegian classics from me to really appreciate but now I consider it one of the best).

Atilla certainly doesn't sound as unique with Tormentor as Mayhem though, and people who dislike his vocals on DMDS probably need to ask themselves why they'd prefer some generic black metal shrieker. (This isn't aimed at you, just in general)

To be fair its been a while since ive heard Anno Domini but i recall his vocals being more harsh and crude i guess? I dunno right now when it comes to black metal is finding that Detonator demo from 1986.
 
what do you value more, a catalog or a particlar moment in time to capture greatness?

metallica BLOWS megadeth away when it comes to the latter, capturing a brilliant moment in time. THe tracks off of RTL (some of which dave co wrote),MOP, AJFA, KEA obviously and even TBA are just brilliant works of aural art that defined a 30 year old legacy of a band that hasnt produced a note worth of shit for 25 years. Think about how ever lasting those early albums were.

Now on the flip side, Dave has a legacy of consistency and exellence on his side. So many high level albums and songs and riffs that he is basically a walking encyclopedia of metal greatness. Their best moments were probably peace sells and RIP and imo they arent as great as the Metallica golden years but DAve has put out some amazing metal in the last 25 years while metallica has been abysmal in that arena.

It all depends on how you judge the criteria of the "vs" debate.

IMO, I put Metallica ahead just based on the brillianc of the early work, but its one of the those things that after another listen of Dystopia I could say MEgadeth wins because of longevity and consistency.
 
I'd rather a band that releases a handful of great albums and then turns shit over a band that consistently releases okay albums.

So which songs from Ride The Lightning did Mustaine co-write?
 
Didn't he make an unverified claim that Metallica used other music that he wrote on other songs without crediting him but that he has no way to prove that it's true?
 
If I ranked Metallica albums. Can't say I really listen to the band anymore, but if I do it is either of the first two.

1. Ride the Lightning.
2. Kill 'Em All.
3. Master of Puppets.
4. S/T.
5. ...and Justice for All.
 
So why does the Gadsden's flag snake on the cover of the black album look so chalky and half assed?
