Megadeth are the better band, by far. Their discography is way stronger.

Killing Is My Business >> Kill Em All
Peace Sells
< Ride the Lightning
SFSGSW!
= Master of Puppets
Rust in Peace
>>> ...And Justice
Countdown
>>> black album
Youthanasia >>> Load
Cryptic Writings
>>> Re-Load

And there's honestly no point in comparing their more recent work since it will be even more one sided.

That all being said, they're two of my all time favorite bands ... but no Metallica album comes close to being as good as Ruse in Peace. That's just a fact.

Yeah I was joking. I think Killing is my Business... is one of the greatest debut albums of all time.

i totally agree.

His obsession with riffs is annoying as is his idolisation of the thrash genre and how he makes it out to be the most pure metal genre.

i don't know who this ultraboris guy is, but he sounds awesome.

although i completely disagree on RtL being as good as RiP, or even close tbh ... i'm curious as to who your pick was? Since you know, you do admit Megadeth have more better/good albums ... which of the two would you say is the better band?

I picked Metallica because I do genuinely worship Ride The Lightning (11th place in my top 50), plus I rate Kill 'Em All and Master Of Puppets rather highly, but it was definitely close. It came to a matter of quantity vs quality.

Also there are certain things I can't resolve with Megadeth, I've never been much of a fan of Dave's vocals. But it was hard to choose.

Peace Sells... is my favourite Megadeth album.

RTL, MOP and 3/4 of AJFA: each one is better than the "best Megadeth" album IMO. I don't know about MD's more recent albums, but I do know that Met's are all awful, so MD could very well have the better overall discog.

Fucking bollocks. I could give a shit about Metallica's 00s albums, but Megadeth's modern shit is garbage. Dave clearly doesn't give a shit about what he's putting out and would probably be happier churning out more pop rock. There's no passion, the songs are some of the worst he's ever put out, and the lyrics are actually awful enough that someone like me who could give a fuck about lyrics can barely stomach listening to them. You might as well just leave the modern era of both bands' discography out of the equation.

I definitely agree on the 90s shit though. I have a rather soft place in my heart for Dave's shit from then. I even kinda love Risk.

I don't care enough to draw a distinction between both of their newer albums, but I suppose Metallica's last album is better than anything either band has done in a long time. Although I'm actually having trouble remembering the name of that album, so take that how you will.

Oh, and I guess I'd have to go with Megadeth in general. 90s material wins easily, and I still care about more 80s Megadeth albums than I do 80s Metallica albums. Kill Em All rules above nearly all other metal albums afaic, and RtL isn't far behind it, but I've become bored with MoP, and AJfA just has too many problems to keep me coming back. But Killing Is My Business is some raw, brutal shit, Peace Sells is a hit factory, So Far, So Good, So What is like their second most pissed off record, and Rust in Piece just has some of the sexiest speed metal riffs of all-time.
