IM pretty sure is Bach or beethoven were alive today there favorite music would be Metal. Metal can be a diverse style of music, all forms can be incorporated into metal.
Is classic music's complexity what makes it worthy for you? Isn't this the same case for metal? People find COB songs kiddish, but actually some are really good songs. Watershed is a lot more complex structured than any Opeth album so far, yet I like other albums more does this mean I am not into Opeth ?
This is a pointless discussion, it all comes down to personal taste and preferences in the end, and music is far to objective to be able to define what makes something 'good'.
I would normally agree with that kind of statements, but I will suggest that you take the main question as "What makes it good/bad for you?", which as an answer (that shows nothing, is subjective and could vary at anytime).
You clearly don't know shit.Pros of Classical Music: It's delicate and subtle
It actually is very important, complexity I mean. And to a degree it is the case in metal too, a song's structure, complexity, amount of work put onto it etc matters a lot. A simple plain riff, it doesnt matter how great it sounds, will not make its place among masterpieces, though I know the ongoing trend about this complexity of music discussion I frankly do not agree with them. But of course complexity does not necessarily mean John Petrucci complexity&speed only, you can get what I mean by thinking this a little.
How do I know Asturias is a weak compositon? Answer to the other guy will come from some classic music experts, not random kids like you.. And the ones I listened to said so, you can go and investigate yourself.. (I am not that credible to make a such statement, I am aware of that)

What do you guys think? What is the main pros and cons of both music? This has been troubling me for some time really and I just want to talk about it.
Last I checked this was an Opeth forum. Chances are the majority of people here are much more attentive than most people you'll encounter on a day-to-day basis.you have to be, at the very least, an attentive listener to appreciate most of it, which rules out almost everyone on this forum. maybe that's a pro :chinrub:

this doesn't need an essay-length response. all that needs to be said is: you're fucking retarded.
I don't see the original post for what makes it good or bad to me.
What?
For me it seems the more i write and listen to music, the more i appreciate minimalism in music, if you know what you're doing and searching for in music a parade of decorations such as solos and riffs on their own become less and less important, but that's my perspective of it, i search for a feeling or a deeper thought in music, decorations such as solos and riffs rarely impress me unless they are a part of a whole...i'm just saying not everyone shares your musical point of view, throwing statements like that only shows how narrow your musical view is.
