I DO hate Hair Metal with a passion, but it's not the same for Nu Metal and Metalcore. I do not know this genres at all (I know only Slipknot and Korn for Nu, and Trivium for Metalcore), but the few bands I know are not bad.

You've never heard of Atreyu, Killswitch, Stinkin Park, and Limp Dickshit? Not saying any of them are worth listen to but they all well known bands.

Sorry, but SOAD's political commentary is about as hackneyed as it gets, but it's dressed up in a "clever" and "unique" presentation. It appeals to teenagers, teenagers understand it, it's for teenagers.

Oh yeah, singing about the genocide Turkey committed in Armenia earlier in the century (one of the over-riding topics of their music and where they actually got their name) is definitely something that "appeals to teens, they understand it, it's for them". Yeah, you're basically a fucking failure. The hackneyed nature of their political commentary is in part due to the presentation and treatment of their preferred subject matter. Look, kids understand the concept of genocide. They also understand and tend to gravitate towards insipid protest songs rather than things with actual subtlety and nuance.

You guys are all retarded. System of a Down's first few albums are killer. They were unique, and quirky, but that were also very musical. Believe you me, I do not align myself with them ideologically at all, and I am no teeny bopper. I am an old man. Before I heard SOAD I just assumed they sucked. When I heard Toxicity, I was very surprised at how much I like the music/vocals. Sure, we all claim that our favorite "uncool" band is different... whatever. I like them.
