Before I got into metal Linkin Park was my favorite band

I really don't "hate" thier stuff. In fact if it is playing I won't say anything. I know every word from thier songs on thier first album. I still remember the feeling I had when I listened to it. However, that feeling does not even compare to that of, lets say, Symphony-X.

When I heard Chester (lead singer of LP) mention that his favorite band was Metallica I immediately went on the computer and downloaded some songs. When I heard Unforgiven I was hooked. Linkin Park slowly faded away as Metallica became my favorite (until i discovered SX)

Linkin Park's "My December" is still a nice song in my book.

I also don't hate Linkin Park, I was once really into them. I think some of their songs are well written, catchy stuff, nothing wrong with it. Sometimes I put them on just for the heck of nu-metal . In The End is the most overplayed song ever though.:erk:

I'm not Metropolos, but i'll answer, the name is Octavarius and the track listing is the following:

1- The Root Of All Evil
2- The Answer Lies Within
3- These Walls
4- I Walk Beside You
5- Panic Attack
6- Never Enough
7- Sacrificed Sons
8- Octavarium

sounds dark, but in a colorful proggy sorta way. should be some really good live stuff. im lookin forward to it. i prolly said the same thing when ToT was about to be released, but even the artwork for that wasnt very colorful. just the name Octavarium, doesnt sound fuck-upable, not even after ToT.

yeah, I get chill when I hear it, I sure hope Labrie doesn't do death vox.
But hey to those of you who have noticed, I love the black vox in, "In THe Name of God"

u mean where he's singing, and then the *black vox* in the background doing the same thing? yeah thats cool.

I actually thought Train of Thought was OK. Not my favorite DT album by any means, but OK. And if they did some stuff like that on Octavarium, it might convince me to buy it. Still, I'm gonna be careful before I buy it. Maybe download some tracks or something, I don't know...

I agree with ya...I hate As I am. There is just parts of songs that piss me off, but it is a decent album, I just hope the new one is better(which I hear it is) and that petrucci writes some better solos instead of just playing fast throughout each solo.

Labrie doesnt sound whiny
I've not listened to much DT extensively, but recently I've been giving SFAM a few spins. Labrie isn't whiny on that - kicks ass in pretty much all places. My favourites are "Through Her Eyes" and "Spirit Carries On" although I don't like the more mellow tracks exclusively - just those two strike me as really good songs, beautiful ones too. Obviously the musicianship is both inspiring and flawless on the part of all band members, my only complaint being the "circus organ" tone used on a couple of occassions. wtf. The story is really good too, up until the very end. I think they should have just left it.

Train of Thought, under my books, is pretty darn great, since Dream Theater never fails to please me. HAH, Kevin James Labrie, under any way is NOT whiney. If you want whiney, pick up the new Saves the Day release, it OWNSSSS

Well im going to do my job and defend petucci...........listen to "in the name of god" and then we can say who shreds the best............but then again awakenings had a more heartfelt guitar solo.

shit this is fucking pointless, they have different styles people and if you cannot live without saying one is better than the other than your just foolish.

Petrucci doesn't need defending...
1. This is a joke thread.
2. No one's disputing that he's an excellent guitarist and musician. The reason OfSinsAndShred is called Defender of Yngwie is because Yngwie seemed to always get a load of people saying he was shit at guitar and fat. The latter was partially true but irrelevant and the former is not true at all, thus OfSinsAndShred became the Defender of Yngwie.
