Hondo said:If they use the orchestra more, and have less blastbeat filler, then DCA could be much better than Puritanical. The two samples there seem pretty good at least.
Oh it does!
The orchestra is TIGHTLY integrated into their sound. This album approaches film scoring territory IMO. UNREAL! Nick does some more tasteful drumming on this album as well. But don't take that the wrong way, he TOTALLY rips a few times.
I really liked PEM. And I really can't understand why a person who's into Dimmu WOULDN'T like that album and DCA as well. Motifs, foreshadowing, crescendos, well-thought out symphonic arrangements, clever band dynamics, movements, exceptional performances and musical delivery, etc.....
Not your boring run-of-the-mill blast-beat troll singer black metal album. I can't WAIT to hear the fully mixed CD. And their artwork is pretty neat too!
My only gripe is that I wanted to hear Vortex MORE on this album. He has an INCREDIBLE VOICE, and makes for a GREAT contrast to Shagrath's style. Don't get me wrong, I like Shagrath too, I just wanted to hear more of Vortex... Oh well.
