NFL 2010

No way in fucking hell. Did you guys forget that the Jets were a 9-7 team last season and the only reason they made the playoffs was due to the Colts and Bengals handed them two wins?

They got lucky in the playoffs imo. They ran into a Bengals team who completely lost steam and their identity going into that week 17 and wild card round, and a a Chargers team who was so due for a choke joke it wasn't even funny.

I think the Patriots are going to rebound quite nicely this season and easily win the division. The Jets might improve a bit, but they'll be in the same position they were last season. I've got the Pats and Colts as the 1 or 2 seed this season and the Jets barely making (if at all) the playoffs.

How come teams only play 16 games in a season? If they played more games it would be more fair for good teams that might have a couple of "off" days, and prevent less-skilled teams that get lucky from advancing.

There's talk of eliminating the pre-season games (four) and just making the season 20 games. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet. It might be taking the pre-season to 2 games and making the season 20, I can't fucking remember

The reason there are 16 regular season games is because of the way the schedules are made up. Each team plays their division rivals twice a season (6), another division in their conference which rotates each season between the other 3 (4), a division in the opposing conference (4), and the last two spots are made up for whoever last season's division winners were in their respective conference (2).

As for your point about extending the season to weed out the lesser quality teams, while in theory sounds good, it wouldn't really matter. The lower seeded teams who make the playoffs usually get bounced in the early rounds anyways. It's a rarity to see a team like last year's Jets, or 2007's Giants, or the 2005 Steelers, to make it as far as those teams did. I wouldn't say they were lucky because this is the NFL, but more often than not the better team prevails, unless you are the 2005, 2007, or 2009 Colts. :erk:

The only thing the NFL could really do is cut out the wild card round and only allow the division winners to play in the playoffs. But that wouldn't be every interesting and would lose the NFL a lot of money.

I think the people who think the preseason is too long are missing the point.

The coaches need the time to evaluate the team (vets/rookies/2nd year players) and come up with a roster.

18 games is waaaaaayyy too long and injuries would destory the playoffs.

...and dude, the wildcard is much too important for the regular season. ratings would plummet.

Well we've got a problem. I have two people who want to join but only one slut available. Either I just pick one or I open the league up to 12 teams and we find one more person to play.

Anyone else want to play?

The Jets are a SURE THING for AFC Champions. Not just AFC East, but they WILL be going to the Super Bowl.

They were only 9-7 because of poor decision making by Sanchez and a few dumb coaching decisions such as allowing Sanchez to throw the ball when they were running ALL FUCKING OVER THE BILLS

and well because Tedd Ginn is built to beat the Jets (but since he isn't on the Dolphins anymore, that is a sure two wins for the Jets.)

What? You do realize the Dolphins traded for Brandon Marshall right?

Also, there's no way the Jets beat the Patriots or Colts in the playoffs.

And their QB is Chad Henne. The Jets have the best defense in the league still, Sanchez who with a second year of NFL coaching will have greatly improved decision making, and have added a few playmakers on both defense and offense.

Patriots will not even make the playoffs this year, and they almost beat the Colts this last year but failed to do so only once an injury happened to their on field play caller and second CB.

Without those injured players the Jets would have stomped the Colts and met up with the Saints in the SB.

 Come on. The Jets were 9-7 WITH two free wins. The Colts would have been 18-0 going into that Super Bowl if they wanted to be. Nothing you are saying makes any sense right now.

edit: Ok I found an extra person to join the league so I guess we'll have twelve people.
