Nirvana is a tolerable pop rock band imo, they wrote some decent catchy tunes, and some garbage too...not groundbreaking or revolutionary like the stupid rock media and some turds call' em...
Liquid Diamonds said:I don't have a problem with Nirvana. Very overrated, but could have been a lot worse. Still, it wasn't even like they were the best grunge band. Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam... they all SLAYED Nirvana. But I think some people are overly harsh on what was actually an alright band, just because they (quite justifiably) resent the undeserved hero worship Cobain gets these days.
IMHO.
um, nevermore, queensryche, soundgarden, alice in chains, sir mix-a-lot???Powers said:I can live with this assesment. Although grunge overall is shit and Champion are clearly the best band to have ever come out of Seattle not Nirvana.

Heck yeah it is. All these retarded-ass teenagers think Nirvana, specifically Cobain, is the center of all awesome music. And, one of them goes so far as to say that Cobain wrote the best song ever and that it was "The Man Who Sold the World." How much mroe sad/funny can it get? What a dumbass (the girl, not you).Scope said:Not THAT funny tho

Nirvana is and will always be one of the greatest bands ever. In Utero was a freaking gem.

opeth8 said:Yep, that was me. FTR I was disappointed with RUUN. I haven't heard any of their previous work & don't plan on spending any of my $$$ on them. Not to say I wouldn't listen to them if given the chance.
For someone as musically inclined as you are NFU, I'm surprised Nirvana's earlier work like Bleach or some of the earlier demo's/singles don't appeal to you.
Kurt wrote some of the best songs of my generation. Maybe I'm just able to better relate to them ???
Can't say I'm surprised that Nirvana is unpopular in this forum.
I'm a bigger fan of AIC when comparing Seattle bands. I'm shocked someone mentioned Pearl Jam as being better than Nirvana. I like PJ, but can't remember the last time they made an album that meant anything to me. vs. & ten were great. It been all downhill since
who are these morons that believe "the man who sold the world" was a nirvana song? i hope that they can use the internet or maybe even a book to find the song was by david bowie, in fact kurt says it clearly after he performed it on unplugged, "that was a david bowie song." good god, those type of people leave me with little hope for the future of mankind.Towedwart said:Heck yeah it is. Didn't mean to make it sound like you are noob to music.NineFeetUnderground said:you make it sound like i was one of those people. to clarify, i had a conversation (or argument?) with one of those people. as i said, it was a sad day for me...and for music.
