Obama buys dish network channel; People continue to starve

I think there should at least be something put into place if spending is going to be increased that makes sure the funding is used correctly...

I'm not even bothering to read all of this stupid fucking bullshit from what I've been able to garner through skimming this utter dreck, but I thought I would just point out that recent comprehensive polls have estimated that Obama will lose SIX PERCENT OF THE POPULAR VOTE that he otherwise may have gotten SOLELY DUE TO RACISM. This pretty much completely negates and even surpasses the impact that newer black voters registering simply to vote for Obama has made. If you would have actually kept up on the news, you would have known that there was a sharp increase in white women registering to vote after Palin was announced as well. More people are voting for a vice presidential nominee now than what I would guess is ever before in the history of this country. I can't remember the last time a vice president has been so important to a presidential campaign, and I can't fathom how anyone who stays informed is not aware of just how much of an effect she has had up until this point.

Also, affirmative action does not favor minorities for jobs, and it certainly doesn't put a less qualified minority above a more qualified white applicant. What affirmative action actually is is the call for variety in the hiring pool, making it necessary for companies to review and consider applicants from backgrounds across the board. At least this is what it is in theory, there are many other factors (and other policies) that play a role in who gets what, including quotas.

I read an article yesterday that seemed to imply that Palin is actually starting to turn off voters as well with all the crazy scandals that have surrounded her and people realizing just how insane and stupid she actually is.

It'll be interesting to see how the VP debate goes. I have no clue who the other candidate even is but I guess the fact that I haven't heard much about him here in Europe probably means he isn't completely batshit insane.

It's true, and a lot of people have predicted that this would happen. Her initial 'newness' has and is continuing to wear off, and like I said, even many of the stupid people are beginning to think "wow, this woman is fucking stupid." I think that by the time the election is here, she will be more of a hindrance to McCain than she is a help (I'll not say 'was' because, frankly, she pretty much resurrected his campaign as it began to falter, and as it is doing once again. It should be noted that in recent days Obama has been polling much better amongst white women, a demographic which he needed to gain ground in).

As far as the debate is concerned, I'm predicting that Palin will be the same person that she's been whenever she wasn't being asked questions, and that is a loud-mouthed know-nothing who sounds like she knows it all while accusing the opposition of knowing nothing. My only fear is that Biden will come off as condescending and the conservative pundits, namely O'Reilly and Hannity, will undoubtedly jump all over this storyline. I still love how those two became rabid feminists overnight after Palin was announced, going so far as to directly contradict statements that they made only a few weeks earlier.

Palin might as well have balls and a dick between her legs since she pretty much stands for nothing pertaining to women. And even though people are starting to realize what an idiot she is, I'm sure there are still plenty of middle aged, doped up on pain killers soccer moms who will still vote for her because she's a woman.

believe it or not, ALOT of women dont believe abortion is right. and alot of women support palin because of it

yes it does. here's a great example:

colleges have quotas to fill. what kind of quotas? race quotas! many major colleges (specifically in california) must admit X amount of asian/black/hispanic/etc students every year. this sets the stage for a black student with a less impressive record to get in over a white kid.

if "minorities" really want to be equal, they would abolish affirmative action legislation because saying someone needs a helping hand to have the same opportunities gives the masses the image that they are inferior. all men are created equal, and making laws saying you werent before is unacceptable.

sorry for the multi posts, i should start reading every post before i reply.

I mentioned quotas you stupid ass. Quotas are not the same thing as affirmative action.

quotas were CAUSED BY AFFIRMATIVE ACTION. they didnt just magically appear one day

O RLY

That's all well and good and completely obvious, but affirmative action at its root and racial quotas are still not the same thing, and many people who support affirmative action more broadly the way that it was originally implemented oppose racial quotas (such as myself). The fact remains, however, that there are a plethora of misconceptions out there about what affirmative action really is.

what affirmative action was at the start, and what it is now, are two different things. now this is my personal view, but i think that affirmative action has done more to hurt people than help in the last decade. it has labeled people as victims, which prevents them from getting past their perceived social caste. and unfortunately, alot of people have taken that victim card and played it over and over, and that just isnt good for the rest of the people on any number of levels.

its time to stop looking for victim handouts and accept the fact that people of all races really are equal now. now we need to break people of the special treatment addiction.

people of all races really are equal now.
This is so very, very far from the truth. While I am a big proponent of advocating class-based assistance over race and gender based assistance, it's just not the case that "we're all equal now". There are so many factors in this world today that demonstrate that minorities and women are not treated equally that I don't see how people could actually still say this. I mean fuck, women still only make $.77 to every $1 a man makes when accounting for all other variables.

What variables are these?
