I don't usually post in this thread but I think this story is slightly amusing and open for debate.

Anyways, I am in University living off campus with 3 other guys and we only have one washroom. So I was using it, and basically the unwritten rule is if the door is shut tight, knock. Anyways I forgot to lock the door and my one roommate didn't knock so a slightly awkward moment ensued. Following this we debated rather heatedly about what is more important locking or knocking.

I think both are equally important but I roommate won't let up that locking is all that needs to be done. So what are your positions on this (rather stupid) debate.

Locking is more important. Although you should just normally leave the door a crack open while unused. Then if it it closed shut, everyone would know it was in use.
