It kind of is. It only joined Italy less than a hundred years ago. The people there still consider it their own seperate country. If you call them Italians they are really offended. I think they always will be.

Even the north Italians and south Italians don't like each other, as I have gathered from chatting on Soulseek with various people living in different parts of Italy. One guy wouldn't even listen to bands from the other part of Italy.

I have a lot of Italians where I live (New Jersey has a lot Italians in general) and yea they say this. One of my friends said he can't have family gatherings because have of his family is from the south and the other is from the north.
