I like it very much overall, but I think that everything after ~1:30 is MUCH stronger than that before, tbh...the first 1 1/2 arent as awesome as the rest, you know what I mean?

Hey Guys, sorry for not chiming in the last few weeks, I was away.....
I'd still love to sing it, but if you found someone else, that's cool with me, no hard feelings.

tbh I still like the idea of multiple singers :Spin:
Hey, please do, it was your song to begin with. I was just jumping in to help out.
No sweat, I understand. Agree that vocals are what most judge the song by.downloading, will comment soon.
edit: Sounds good overall, but there are some things that bother me a bit, and fixing them could make the track sound better... Nothing personal, but you know, I'm a bit of a vocal nazi as most of the regular people mainly listen to the vocals and if the source material is better than good, it's easier to work on the material to make the end product sound closer to stellar.
My vocal chain is less than steller... Studio Projects C1 -> ART PRO MPA preamp -> POD X3 (interface, but only passing dry signal) -> Cubase. Might try and switch to SM7-b, but usually the C1 sounds brighter which is what I was shooting for here. Could be that I oversquashed it at mixdown as I just threw some comp, verb and delay on it to make it fit in the mix rather than have it dry.- Vocalchain
What microphone are you using, and are you compressing on the way in? The vocals sound pretty muffled, like there is no sizzle on the esses or anything, it might be from overcompression with too fast attack settings but if there is none, then I guess it is the microphone. If it's something like SM58, can you try to get a hold of a large diaphram condenser microphone?
- Articulation
The change of microphone might change some of this, but the articulation sounds maybe a bit too round and stretched (like instead of "tiger" it sounds more like "thaiga" and "diamonds" sound like "diemoth"), compared where the dio's articulation is very straightforward cubical, which makes it sound maybe a bit more agressive. So if you just can, maybe even over-articulate a little on the consonants, but don't lose the mojo over it.
- Emotion
This one is a minor thing, but in the beginning where there are the hums ("uuu, yeah-i-yeah" and when there is the "jump jump" later on before the solo), could you try to make them sound a bit more emotional. The part with "gotta get away" was very good on the emotion part, but the "holy diver" part after that was maybe a bit over, but in Finland we have this saying "mielummin överit kun vajarit", which means something like "rather over than under".

Some of this is probably more style-related...I never have been a good "imitator" and I do naturally tend to draw words or endings out...I know exactly what you mean. Old habits are hard to break!
It's also a bit tough as this was at the top of my break spot for many parts, so I think that had to do with a lot of what you are hearing also. When you have to push hard it doesn't make for very emotional or dynamic singing for sure!
Anyway, let's hear what joey and mago's girlfriend end up with, and if their versions don't work out I will try some different things. I won't have time to re-do anything until the weekend anyway, so hopefully one of them kocks it out of the park and you can continue to roll.
That's also were I aim at hehemaybe you could get each singer to do different parts and/or harmonize each other on some parts?
I hear ground loop hum during the guitar solo and what sounds like "usb hum" in the beginning, check that everything is alright with your recording.
Pretty nice in overall, "the vision never dies" line was pretty awesome, could almost say it was better than the original. Can you try to make a version that has a bit more presence / less lows on the vocals, as they seem pretty dark now? You know, nothing serious, just like just a mild compression with Rvox or something and a few db's of lowshelf drop around 300hz
