Old school death metal

I think the person is more saying that 70's and 80's is oldschool and the 90's is not, not yet.

Yes. Thank you.
I was not talking about death metal only, when I refered 70s/80s. I was talking about old school in general.
Maybe is my mistake, because now that I think about it... the 90s are getting pretty old school...

:zombie:

I'M GETTING OLD!?!?!!?

I consider early 90's death metal oldschool because death metal past a certain point and now is very different so it's good to seperate. With more time 90's music will be oldschool as hell.

The late 80s and early 90s is old-school for Death Metal since it's a relatively young genre.

Well the 90's are def. old school at this point...you're right there.I remember the early 90's when i was listening to queensryche n' stuff...well every now and then ill still throw on empire(it seems like yesterday)

*if your getting old...then you're aging like fine wine* lemme tell ya!

BTW, I was just referring to how Decide sounds. I'm no Decide expert, but I never associated them with Old School Death. But apparently I have been corrected.

 cheers!

But I stil think that Possessed and Death are the greatest examples of old school death metal.

Yes. Scream Bloody Gore, old Autopsy etc sound very old school to these ears - but alas, for the true sound of the old school, I'm afraid the first wave of Swedish Death Metal bands has the sound of death metal.

But then, I am old as fuck and a silly cunt.

Just thought I'd mention some interesting releases in the Xtreem Records (Revenent, Abhorer, Demigod, Adramelech, etc) reissue queue:

Phlegethon - Visions From The Forestside (reissue of the first two demos)
Absorbed - Reverie + Demos
Dissect - Swallow Swouming Mass + demos
Killing Addiction - The Omega Factor + demos
Unbounded Terror - Nest Of Affliction + demos

Also, it seems that the Deathevokation debut has already been released. They're also scheduled to release the new Hellwitch album. And Spain's Golgotha's new album will be called Onward To Incantation.

Good stuff. I already have the latter two (iirc Omega Factor is pretty cheap at amazon), but I'm interested in getting Phlegethon and Absorbed.

Yeah, I have the Killing Addiction as well, it's not hard to come by around here for cheap. I do wonder about the demo material though.

Xtreem Records has seriously done a stand up job recently. My copy of Slumber of Sullen Eyes is fucking wonderful.

edit: I'm pretty happy about that Phlegethon reissue, I've been looking for their shit for sometime now.

A lot of people seem to dislike Xtreem, citing shoddy quality. Personally, my main concern is owning a copy of the music, if you throw in the lyrics, fucking great. I don't need every fucking reissue to rival Marquee's Sacrifice reissues for god's sake.
