The vocal performance by David Vincent is very poor. He sounds uninspired and bored. The overall "evil atmosphere" that could be found on previous MA releases is gone, and in general the songs are very watered down compared to earlier releases.

Pretty much this. It sounds like a Morbid Angel cover band consisting of a bunch of guys that never shook their affinity for Pantera trying to write a Morbid Angel album. Hyperbole aside, it's just really subpar even before taking into account the fact that their first two albums are two of the most adventurous and monumental metal albums of all time; a fact which makes its shitiness even more pungent.

Mithras manages to pull off the Domination style without sucking on Forever Advancing...Legions.

Fuck yeah, easily the best type of death metal IMO. Old school or no school.

Just listen to the last track to understand why. THE LAST FUCKING TRACK.

Brutal without being gay. Also has some of the best songwriting ever.

Super cryptic atomsphere and the guitar tone is just sex.

Raw and evil as fuck. Also has some great piano/acoustic bits.

Great death metal with a lot of variety and progressive influences as well.

Extremely innovative and atmospheric. Beautiful melodic sections as well.

Who says old school death metal can't be catchy? If you don't like "The Book of the Worm" then you have shitty taste in music.
