Old school death metal

Same here. Luckily for my wallet, I'm actually content with having reissues, though maybe one day when I'm actually settled and have money to burn, it could be an interesting pet project to try to track down some of these originals, especially Tiamat - Sumerian Cry and Therion - Beyond Sanctorum, whose reissued covers were completely obliterated.

yeah im generally happy with reissues as well, except when you get those double packs (i.e. combines album + ep or another album). they give me the shits, such as the unleashed "where no life dwells" album i was duped into getting :\

When the shit you really love has been out of print since 1990, and you have a better source of income and easier access to internet buying, you'll probably change your mind.

The good thing about combos, is that it's usually cheaper than buying two CDs. That being said, the only combo reissue I've bought is Primordial - Imrama/A Journey's End.

Yeah, probably. There was once a time I wouldn't spend more than 12.99 on a CD, but getting into the underground metal scene changed me a bit because the stuff I wanted could only be found at large music chains like Virgin and Tower, which are EXPENSIVE.

Well, both are are good albums, so it's a good buy. I also got the Spirit the Earth Aflame reissue, which was reissued by itself, probably because it is widely regarded as their best album.

Yeah, I ordered all of their albums from Candlelight aside from The Gathering Wilderness which I picked up used but in perfect condition from a local music shop for like 8 dollars.

Oh and uh ... old school DM.

Seance rules.

Cool. The only Primordial I don't have a real CD of is Storm Before Calm, but I am planning on picking that up soon. I should have their whole discography on real CD, since they are one of my top three favorite bands.

And Seance does rule. I can't believe that one of their guitarists went on to a band as lowly as The Haunted.

Yeah, that is the same way with me. Third favorite band, need all their stuff.

Sort of like how the guy from Necrophobic went on to Dark Funeral. Total wtf there.

Goatlord fucking rules. Old school death/doom, just pure fucking evil. It makes you feel like you're in a dungeon.

Fuck yeah.

I just realized today that "Onward To Golgotha" was first released in 1992. That's awesome. This whole time I thought it was a more modern work.

And Suffocation is ass-kicking-ly brutal, just as I had hoped. I'm still kind of pissed that the first track on "Pierced..." doesn't work, though.

What's a good Immolation album?
