Old school death metal

I need to check out Funebrarum.

You guys like Runemagick, their first album fucking rules.

Indeed, great album.

Edit: I am not sure if its already been requested but do any of you think this thread, along with the Black Metal thread, should be stickied(sp)?

This is for the At The Gates ass kisser, 'the red in the sky is ours' grew on me and it's a cool album but I would probably put it in with melodic metal albums and not oldschool death metal, the album is just drenched with melody and also the vocals have that gothenburg sound. I would not say it's the best oldschool death metal album because really is it 'old school death metal'.

It's definitely Death Metal despite a fair emphasis on melody. The only bad thing about the album is the odd production. Check out Gardens of Grief too if you haven't already.

hum...

I have Gardens of Grief on cd with all the Grotesque demo's and it's fucking ace. Gardens of Grief is very different than TRITSIO to my ears and by far the least melodic ATG and most morbid and eeire more resembling Grotesque demos and basically just sounds like Grotesque finally getting a professional recording released. If Gardens of Grief had 4 more songs and was a fullength and it would be my favorite from them.

I don't see anything strange with the production on TRITKIU except for maybe the volume being low so you have to crank it, the instruments themselves are a pretty clear, gardens of grief does have better production.

I am not really sure but maybe digital recording was pretty new during the time and maybe that is why a good ammount of early death metal cds are clear and have good recorded instruments but have low volume. I have no idea.

Yeah the production is fine in terms of clarity its just the guitars sound a bit too thin on occasion. I agree that GoG is probably their most eerie sounding release but I like TRITSIO slightly better because it has a sort of melancholic feel that I don't often hear in death metal albums. The violin is also a notable addition that actually works to the band's advantage.

Malignance, Bottom right of Random? Right of Belial and below Phlebotomized...

EDIT: and the one below Uncanny.

Weird, I guess I've never looked at the Morpheus(swe) logo, but that album is great. I need to check out Imprecation and Unbounded Terror then.
