One Album Wonders

Lykathea Aflame - Elvenefris

Good one.

Sad Legend - s/t. They released an EP in 2001 but this particular album is what they are most noted for.

Maimed, now defunct death metal band from Illinois. They only released a four track demo in the early 90s before splitting up.

I agree with AcK, too many people are basing this of their own preferences instead of broad acceptance/popularity.

Does this surprise you? Most threads on here that have the potential to be good and full of worthwhile discussion turn into nothing but a pissing contest.

how the hell do people here mention bands like Sepultura, Amorphis, Orphaned Land, Edge Of Sanity, Slayer or Morbid Angel? WTF? these bands are known for having several great albums

good mentions so far:

Thergothon
dISEMBOWELMENT
Mysticum
Warning
Lykathea Aflame
Demilich
Nocturnus

^Therein lies summation of most of this thread

Well now it sums up the thread, but the original idea was good. People just fucked up the thread by posting based purely on their opinions rather than popularity. I mean the first albums mentioned were all very applicable except for Focus, which was applicable for many years until 2008 came around.

I agree with the Disillusion - "Back To Times Of Splendor". Amazing album, and then they switched styles...

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Ahab - "Call Of The Wretched Sea". Currently (soon to change) they only have one full album, and it kicks ass.

I'm gonna go ahead and say I disagree with Amorphis, Gojira and Cynic making it on this list.

I might also add Queensrÿche - "Operation: Mindcrime" to the list.

Am I the only one who was bored by Ahab? Listening to the album was like having a conversation with my grandfather. He's dead.

I'd have to agree that Ahab is boring. Whales or not, I find them to be pretty generic and pointless.

Wow, that must be one incredibly shitty album if you find it boring.

Whales make everything better.
