Opeth/Tool summer Festival?!

if opeth go on ozzfest when mike said what horeshit he thought it was bands paying to play, id find that interesting, but in the end some things you have to take from the labels orders, ie TGC video

They won't play ozzfest. And as far as not opening for other bands goes, I think they'd make an exception for tool, since everyone in the band likes them. And i remember reading an interview, perhaps with lopez, about what band he would love to tour with, and it was tool. Maybe a co-headline oculd be worked out, but i cant imagine them co-headlining. I don't care how it happens, just make it happen mikael!!

Well, I would be surprised if Opeth wasn't on Ozzfest this summer. Roadrunner will foot the bill.

I wonder if they'd play it if they were offered second stage... Main stage doesn't have to pay to be on the tour though.

I haven't heard any news about the new Tool album -- but to hear it's coming out in April gets me very happy. And yes, Tool and Opeth touring together would be a great, great thing. I'd travel to the biggest venue I could find and LAP it up.

A TOOL and Opeth tour would be fantastic for both bands. Both bands strive to creat music that is from the very depths of the soul, and create original music that pushes the limits of the very definitional of "metal" itself.

I have seen TOOL 62 times in the last 14 years, and have seen Opeth 4 times in the last year (one with Martin Lopez on the SOTU tour in Detroit, three times with Axe (Detroit at HARPO's the ultimate metal venue PERIOD, Cleveland at the House of Blues, and in Fort Lauderdale in the Culture Room.) Thanks Lamb of God for taking them on tour, and exposing me to this incredible band.

Opeth would be the real winner from this type of bill for numerous reasons. People who like TOOL would appreciate the simple fact that their choice of an opening band is as creative as them, and would expose Opeth to hundreds of thousands of people who have never heard any Opeth music. I fell in love with there music, and have turned dozens of people on to them, and that is exactly what they want; EXPOSURE.

So to all you whiny teenage bitches who want to keep Opeth all to yourselves, it simply ain't gonna happen.

By the way if you want to check out some sick drumming talent, check out

Nick Smith, Hilary Jones, Vera Figueiredo, and last but not least Akira Jimbo. You will not be dissapointed. PLEASE NOTE: MARTIN LOPEZ FAVORITE MUSICIAN IS AKIRA JIMBO!

Ugh Harpos was the worst man. The few shows I've been too pales to your numbers, but Harpos' high high stage sucked balls. The band just towered above the crowd, totally inaccessible. For such a small venue I like something closer, more personable where the band is at a level to feel the crowd more. Good post though.

62?!

I agree about the high stage at Harpos, but I was talking more about the sound system. It simply fucking rocks. Oh yeah. I am really pissed off that Opeth is skipping Detroit, so in protest, I will only see the show in London, Ontario, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Chicago, Illinios.

I CANT WAIT TO SEE THEM AGAIN!

To everyone saying Tool sucks:

Mikael Akerfeldt likes Tool, he mentions it on Opeth.com. So suck it.

So because he said it it's divine gospel and we should all like it?

holy shit...62?! i really want to see Tool, at least once in my life! But Tool and Opeth are going to play on the same festival...Roskilde, like someone mentioned before...

I have been self-employed in the computer and internet industry since 1994, so I am lucky enough to make my own schedule, and planned my client visits to conicide with the different TOOL shows across the Midwest and Northeast.

I am a lucky man to be able to say that.

I am going to roadtrip and see Opeth in London, Ontario on the 28th, Grand Rapids on the 1st of March, and Chicago on the second of March. I love signing my own paychecks!

I just want this thread to stay as close to the top as possible because i really want mike to see it and at least think about making a tool/opeth tour

Personally , I would love to see Tool & Opeth on tour together . Two amazing bands  So go ahead and shit all over my opinion if you like - I really don't give a damn .
