My exciting purchase fo the day is 10 meters of CAT-6 UTP cable so I can actually have an internet connection where I don't lose my signal every 20 minutes for random amounts of time. It's nice when your housemates decide to move the wifi router to a different section of the house and then nail the whole thing in place before realizing that it fucks up the signal for some people.

The cable is black though. It's kvlt as fuck.

This is good. If possible, I would get an internal drive because they're cheaper.

Of course internal is cheaper. But you can't exactly carry them around, which is one of the advantages of external HDs.
I'd go for Seagate.

My suggestion is usually cheaper. However, I am lazy and just buy a full fledged external anyway.

this is what I did. I went to a CompUSA going out of business sale...got a 250GB internal HD and an enclosure for a little over $100

Then again that was at a CompUSA going out of business, which happens a LOT apparently...how much was the savings? My 150 gig external WD portable was only 80.

I bought my Western Digital 250 GB XHDD for around 100 bucks about a year and a half ago. Haven't had any problems whatsoever since I opened it.
