I don´t know, if others like it. I only can be super honest and say, that I like it. Total fucking shredding along the entire song would be not good imo. I really prefer a pleasent "breathing space" in the middle of the song. Dynamics is not to be despised! In the end all elements have to work together with each other.

So in the case, he wanna try also a distorted solo, I´m absolutely willing to keep this brilliant solo for another part. About the 157.57...don´t ask me

I think you could try the exact same solo you did, with distortion and the neck pickup. I believe it would sound pretty good, if not better.
