Sorry if this has been posted before, but the new SS is coming soon, and it's a standalone app like Addictive drums, etc. Pretty exciting!!

They are, quite simple, the best drums for metal music...

Here are some awesome samples:
"These are played by master drummer and Yellow Matter midi programmer Dan Kirk LIVE at our AES booth.. with the exception of the Dan kit which was played by John Emrich. Soon I'll have VIDEOS of all these being played..

I'm sure Mr. Slate will have answers in this thread eventually.

It all depends on the cymbals, for me... slate already made killer acoustic drums, but I've not heard a serious demonstration of the cymbals.

Will someone, finally, for chrissake, record a nice goddamn ride? DFHS's powerbell is the closest to a good metal ride, IMO... but S2.0, AD, EZdrummer... they're either thin and anemic or way too dry.

They sound quite fake. The individual sounds are fantastic, as usual, but altogether and used individually it all just ends up sounding very 'by the numbers'. I think I'll keep the Slate pack as a fantastic sample replacement/blend tool, rather than an all-out drum sequencing application.

Thanks for the update.

They sound quite fake.

If those drums sound fake, then I must hate real sounding drums then, because those drums sound the way drums "SHOULD" sound!

Superior 2.0 might sound more realistic "might" but the more samples I hear of 2.0, the more I really hate them. It sounds too EZDrummer for me. I'd take any of those SSD samples over Superior in a heartbeat.

Much better, but it's still kinda weak sounding. I want a ride like on Old Man's Child's Vermin or any of Dimmu's newer albums.

I have my ride recorded, same one that the Gojira drummer uses. Want me to upload the samples? Sorry to derail this..

I haven't used Slate before, but it seems like a few of those samples are out of phase? The CrispNRG.mp3, slate.mp3 in particular, the snare on each.

Holy! That Cripskit NRG roomsound is so fucking HUUUUGE! That snare, I'm cumming
