Immortal/Ashes/Morbid

Excuse me for not wanting to vote for an album just because it's sabbath. Every one of their albums doesnt deserve to be on this list just because of the name.

I don't think they all deserve to be on the list and I don't expect you to vote for anything you don't like, but Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage basically invented progressive metal, not to mention are phenomenal albums from start to finish. They are both worthy of the top 100.

Also, stormcrowfleet.

What about it?

Malevolent Creation is lower-first/upper-second tier Floridian stuffs. May as well start voting for Death Angel or Heathen to represent thrash.

As far as those Sabbath albums inventing progressive metal... eh. By the standards of mid-70's metal, yeah, they were almost certainly at the most progressive side, but inventing progressive metal is a ridiculous stretch. Just like claiming Symptom of the Universe as inventing thrash is.

What the list needs is a Watchtower album to represent progressive metal.

Not a good analogy at all. Prog rock was a thriving genre in the mid 70s. Black Sabbath were clearly inspired by prog rock bands and integrated many of the aspects of that style into their own sound. Certainly, they don't sound like modern prog metal albums (thankfully) but insofar as they mix prog rock and heavy metal, they are the first prog-metal albums.

Dark Angel - Darkness Descends should be added before any Death Angel album.

Morbid Tales and Dimension Hatröss both make it.

Dude, you're fucking voting for Exodus.

The Ten Commandments definitely belongs on the list, but just not yet.

and the only Watchtower album id vote for is Energetic Dissasembly.

Dude, Bonded By Blood is widely heralded as a classic thrash album and among the very best of the sub-genre. The later Exodus albums, not so much, but anyone that thinks Bonded By Blood and The Ten Commandments are analogous within their respective sub-genres and scenes is full retard.

Sure.

You just previously said that you might vote for Control & Resistance, implied on the merits of Jarzombek's performance, and now you would only vote for the album without him. LOL @ your consistent inconsistency.

This is exactly what i mean when i say that your off in your own little fantasy land, i never said i would vote for Control and Resistance(i might if it makes the list laaater on) ... i said i wouldn't vote against it. This is exactly why i try avoiding you as much as possible .... "consistent inconsistency"? lmao? Your in la-la land bru.

and yea, Jarzombek is a great guitarist ... really love his work with Blotted Science.

... guy calls Malevolent Creation second-string when he's voting for the king's of second rate thrash.

edit: And someone who considers Among the Living one of the best thrash albums has no room to say which albums are "widely heralded" thrash classics or not.

DT/Mastodon/Immortal

Okay, this Dream Theater album should fill the tech/prog void to some degree. I know I&W came first, but it's losing points for production that hasn't aged as well, and a saxophone solo that's really gay. Also, Immortal got dangerously close to the top of the list. We can't let that happen. At some point, I'll concede another Agalloch album, but I wouldn't want to see that Immortal album inside the top 250.

I expect someone to bump Mastodon right away, but there are a ton (probably too many) death metal albums on the list, and the last couple have been black metal-ish.
