I'm not opposed to more Agalloch, but that's the wrong album. Kampfar will be gone soon enough. That seems like a particularly weird choice when Enslaved's best album is on the list. Also Drudkh, Nokturnal Mortum, Graveland, and others are better epic black metal options that are likely to get a little support.

I agree. Marrow of the Spirit is a better album. Honestly I think Agalloch are far superior songwriters to Graveland, Nokturnal Mortum and most Drudkh. I would really like to get Autumn Aurora on the list.

Hey Crimson you should edit page one so instead of "1000 greatest metal albums of all time" it would say "UMF list of favorite metal albums".

What is the distinction exactly? I am voting what I think are the highest caliber albums ever offered in metal. I am voting down the ones that I do not think are of a high caliber.

Master/Ever Flowing/IVth Crusade

Looks like Master of Reality makes it.

The list is pretty heavy on OSDM, and there a fair amount of black metal albums, though they are more mixed between old and new. Meshuggah - Destroy Erase Improve and My Dying Bride - Turn Loose The Swans would be good classic choices. There are a few Dream Theater albums I would consider, but they probably have too many haters. Awake, Images & Words, and Scenes From a Memory would get support from me at this point, since that genre hasn't really been represented. I'd be for another Opeth album, if it's MAYH or Blackwater Park.

I think Future Breed Machine is good enough of a song on its own to warrant inclusion for DEI, regardless of how bored with nowadays Meshuggah people claim to be.

I'd support Awake or Destroy Erase Improve, although neither will last here.

I tend to agree at this point. Everyone bitches about the vocals in Dream Theater, even though there's nothing wrong with them in Awake, and people blame Meshuggah for the bands they influenced, even though DEI is unique for its time and one of the most intelligent metal albums ever.
