Crowbar is really the only sludge band I ever got into.
I like middle and newer Crowbar(don't listen to them a lot). I prefere eyehategod and acid bath.

In that case;Candlemass would direct you to KRUX. Especially their latest from last year - Krux ll.:Smokin:1. Pentagram 2. candlemass 3. solitude aeturnus
the holy trinity in my eyes
TBH, I really can't get into it. I actually own albums by Eyehategod and Grief. Maybe I just need to give it another chance. I don't dislike it or anything.how about sludge a la Eyehategod, Corrupted, Grief and Noothgrush?
The lead guitar playing high single note riffs over the rhythm guitar playing power chord riffs is definitely something Katatonia got from Paradise Lost. I love Paradise Lost up through Icon (and some songs on Draconian Times).BMD is almost totally influenced by Shades of God - I couldnt comment on later (i.e. shit) Katatonia in much the same way as I can't comment on post one-second Paradise Lost.

I want to hear Skepticism, I'm curious about all the hype surrounding them.

like a funeral procession put to music....people in pews, dressed in black weeping.
Not Stormcrowfleet, it's rather uplifting. Thergothon is much more like a funeral procession.
If you listen to Stormcrowfleet and you don't get a feeling of some kind of bitter triumph, then I don't think you're getting the right message out of it. This has been my experience, and the experience of everyone else I've ever seen talk about the album until you right now.
I despise Acid Bath. must be the vocals. but I like the rest of that NOLA scene.
