The Official Good Television Thread

They were right to fire him, because fuck treating someone differently on the grounds that they're popular, famous or successful.

All the people hating on Clarkson need to shut the fuck up though. As do all the people hating on the producer.

Both sides are fucking obnoxious.

Programme will probably be crap when it returns. I bet the replacement presenters will be shit, and (if only because viewing figures drop and they'll have less money) they'll go and try and make it into a 'serious' car programme again, moving away from the specials which were really all that made it worth watching.

The thing that's annoyed me the most is the glee of those that dislike Top Gear or Clarkson. The BBC hasn't been putting out much worth watching, its budgets are shrinking and they've just gone and fucked the most profitable programme which will surely mean yet more fucking cooking shows, dancing shows, 'talent' shows, 'celebrity' shows.

Load of bollocks.

He punched a coworker over a stupid meal. He deserves to get sacked. He might've been in a bad mood after a long day and was probably drunk, but it doesn't matter.

I feel however that Jeremy didn't want to continue. He has some personaly problems (allegedly) and if he wanted to continue, he would have apologized. Instead he was mocking the studio heads.

BBC had a difficult choice. I am not that negative about the future in terms of quality(not sure about ratings). Reduce the budget a bit (stop shooting in 2 different countries in every episode for example), freshen the show up a bit and get good presenters. This is the most difficult task, but I feel if they can get Rowan Atkinson, Stephey Fry, Jools Holland or similar guys (maybe mix it up with someone younger, might be nice target for jokes), they'd be just fine.

As for current party, I'm not sure about that. They should take a little break. I think if they are gonna do something together eventually, it's gonna be something smaller than Top Gear. I'd like it to be more personal, showing their garages/driving the cars they used to own. The show should be a bit more car-testing related. And I bet they're gonna go for commercial TV or something like Netflix(I'd prefer that).

@ Carpe Mortem- yeah Hatfields n McCoys was so well done...just rewatched it. Highly recommend this mini.

@ Zeph-"Jupiters cock" lol, Spartacus what a series...one of my alltime faves. Did your viewing also include the prequel wich they developed maybe mid series and while the lead actor was trying to recover from cancer? This surprisingly was a great little mini season. The ring of fire arena battle scenes there were so epic.

Is anyone watching Vikngs on History? Knee deep into middle current season 3. Such a bad-ass show. The rawness, production cinematography shit is done right. Partly due to the high success of Vikings, History is planning to develope another series (to offset Vikings) entitled Knightfall...bout the Knights Templars etc.

I tried Vikings and couldn't get into it. Seemed inauthentic and forced.

Top Gear should be cancelled. Relaunching it with new presenters will fail dismally.

Both Spartacus and Vikings improve with time.

Better Call Saul, on the other hand, was a bit more hot out of the gate and faded in the stretch over the course of the season. The finale confirmed what we all suspected, that Vince Gilligan is following a similar formula to Breaking Bad.

About 6 episodes into The Tudors. Pretty disappointed, especially since I was expecting something about as good as The Borgias. I'll give it a bit more time just for Sam Neil and Natalie Dormer.

any of you seen GOTHAM or BOSCH? GOTHAM kinda fell to pieces over the last few eps, but i enjoyed the bulk of the run enough to give season 2 a chance - at its best it's exactly what i want out of a batman tv adaptation in 2015. BOSCH is one of the more adept single-case detective series i've seen. it's pretty old school, not aiming as high as the likes of TRUE DETECTIVE or especially THE WIRE (which it's clearly influenced by - and shares cast members with), but for people who love murder mystery tropes elevated beyond the usual TV tripe then it's a must (imdb rating is 8.4 so i guess the people agree, whatever that's worth). it's an amazon instant video exclusive so idk what availability is like for those who don't have amazon.

i still haven't started the final season of JUSTIFIED yet because i love that show so much and i really really don't want it to end. instead i'm finally jumping into THE WALKING DEAD for the first time. hoping it'll live up to the hype.

The second season of The Tudors is great. Much better than The Borgias ... which was a pretty cringeworthy series overall imo, not even in the same league to be honest(in any possible way).

I missed the last half of episode 9 of BCS and accidentally deleted it from my DVR. So now i have to wait for it to record again before i watch the finale. :(

Just finished season 2. Easily the best thing on TV. Love how its following the story of Ragnar and his famous sons so closely. It was neat seeing Ivar the Boneless, Sigurd Snake in the Eye, and how Bjorn Ironside got his name. Of course, this is all taken with liberty, but TV sucks nowadays and here's a show that takes chances. Love the Odinism vs Christianity imagery in the show. And the music....! That intro and the music thoughout could easily be the intros/outros of our favorite viking metal albums. Ill stop jerking off now.

I enjoyed Spartacus. Definitely got better after the first season. Great ending. THat red head bitch in the prequel was my favorite
